7. Oh, here's another one for you!

Had CNN on briefly this morning (wish I could remember who exactly they were talking with :banghead: ) and he said "The moderates like President Talabani..." and name another 'moderate'. Well, just a day or two before Maliki was going to meet with Bush in Jordan, it was Talabani who came back from meeting with the big, bad, evil Iran and publicly stated that an Agreement had been reached that covered everything--INCLUDING Iraqi security.

Talabani's been negotiating with Iran so I'm betting he's the one being tapped to replace Maliki. Not to mention that part of his talks have been rumored to be about Iran demanding US troops leave, he also has ties to Syria. So, Maliki resigns (or is voted out), Talabani takes over, we declare victory begin to exit, and it's a lovefest!

It's hard to tell whether the pretend cowboy that shoots from the hip is going to be convinced by Cheney to give the go ahead this time around. But Bushetals have prevailed before in scaring him by whispering "9/11!!!" in his ear.

A lot is going to depend on al-Sadr and whether Iran allows the US to take him out. al-Sadr has said he'll side with Iran if the US attacks and has met with Iranian officials. But Iraqi officials including Talabani have also met with the Iranians. http://www.iranfocus.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=5421 We know al-Sadr pulls the strings with Maliki and al-Sistani has been notably quiet. Bush/Cheney have really put us in a pickle with very little room to maneuver.

What worries me the most is that we're (our troops) are being set up to become the spark that sets everything off. One mistake in the middle of Baghdad by our troops and the Shiite will hit the fan, so to speak. Either way, it's a lose lose situation and there are no guarantees that a 'peaceful Iraq that can sustain, govern, and provide security' for itself will be a US ally rather than a partner to its Shiite neighbor. Pretty much depends on the people's leaders who are BTW not the government officials, IMO.

Oh, and the 'safe haven for terrorists and al-Queda' is a bunch of crap! al-Queda is Sunni. What a mess!
