WTF!! Proof Stephen Baldwin is an idiot - his comment about Bono & Africa
I love IMDB and recently I was watching the movie "Threesome" on Logo TV. Usually after I watch a movie I check the link out on IMDB and I found this quote that Stephen Baldwin, who is now a born-again Christian nutjob AND Bush supporter, that he made about what Bono is doing in Africa.

"You would do far more good if you just preached the gospel of Jesus rather than trying to get rid of Third World debt relief." - On Bono's crusade against poverty in Africa.

OMG - what kind of idiot makes a comment like that? Africa needs more than just preaching - Africa needs real & tangible help in order to end the AIDS epidemic and poverty.

The other Baldwin brothers must be so embarassed about him

is not cool.

33. William Baldwin is pretty liberal.
He's been on Bill Maher a few times. He's very articulate, well-informed, VERY liberal -- a relly smart guy. He's also an actor. His best role was probably in Backdraft.

24. Fundy or Fundie?
I notice the last two posts don't agree. I can never decide which one to use either. Anyone know the correct spelling?

27. It's slang. I imagine the spelling isn't standardized yet.
I prefer "fundy" but probably people who live along the Bay of Fundy don't.

34. And there's also the plural
Someone with wiki experience should submit the official slang spellings.

I would go with "Fundy" and "Fundies".

10. He thought he was -- rode on the brother's coattails
a bit, I think.

Mostly he's a big-mouth who uses whatever publicity his last name can generate for his own ends.

16. You'd probably recognize him
He's one of those, "ohhh, it's that guy" actors. He's usually typecast as manic and stupid. You can see why.

In other words, I'm definitely FOR trying to get rid of third world debt.

Maybe Mr. Baldwin's smarter than we think? ;)

11. How does preaching feed a starving man?
Jesus had words for folks who made a great show of their faith, praying, etc--it was hypocrites. And Jesus praised the fellow who wasn't so "holy" who stopped and gave aid to a fellow who had been beaten and robbed and who had been passed by by "holy" men--Samaritans weren't looked upon highly in Biblical times.

14. Isn't he generally billed as the "ugly" Baldwin, when he isn't being billed as the
"stupid" Baldwin, or the "bad actor" Baldwin?

The poor bastard. On some level you have to feel sorry for him....he has relatives with an embarassment of looks, brains and talent, and when those qualities were handed out, he was standing behind the door and didn't get his share....

I'd imagine the others feel both embarrassed FOR him, as well as sorry for him, more than anything else. If he were my relative, I'd probably be on that page. It's always a shame when a family member lacks the good qualities of the rest of the bunch....

31. Not really, they just add an extra layer of suppression and more guilt.
They are perfectly able to think logically, yet instead they push reality deep down inside and hide anything that would lead to clarity. I've known/am related to quite a few and I've learned that it is all a farce. They know it even better than we do. Maybe that is why so many of them finally lose their minds and do something crazy.

40. A poem for Stephen Baldwin - Listen Christian by Bob Rowland
Listen Christian
by Bob Rowland

“I was hungry
And you formed a humanities club
And discussed my hunger.
Thank you.

I was imprisoned
And you crept off quietly
To your chapel in the cellar
And prayed for my release.

I was naked
And in your mind
You debated the morality
Of my appearance.

I was sick
And you knelt and thanked God
For your health.

I was homeless
And you preached to me
Of the spiritual shelter
Of the Love of God.

I was lonely
And you left me alone
To pray for me.

You seem so holy
So close to God
But I am still very hungry…
And lonely…and cold.”
