Joe Lieberman releases statement 1/15: I support the President's Iraq Plan!
Senator Joe Lieberman (I/D-CT) issued a statement today, supporting President Bush’s “new plan for success in Iraq.”

The following is his statement:

“I understand that there is much controversy surrounding the President’s new plan to achieve success in Iraq. Congress should certainly offer the Administration guidance and provide oversight as we move forward. However, because I support the President’s new plan for success in Iraq, I will, of course, oppose any Sense of the Senate resolution that expresses opposition to it.

“Even though such a resolution would do nothing to stop the implementation of the proposed new military, political, and economic plan, it will send a mixed message of division to both our troops and our enemies.

“Moreover, I believe it would be a dangerous mistake to cut off funds to our troops while they are fighting to achieve their mission. An article appeared today in the Hartford Courant which incorrectly suggested that I hold the position that President Bush should defy Congress and proceed with his plan even if Congress voted to cut off funds for the thousands of new American troops deployed to Iraq.

“To set the record straight, I strongly support the President's new strategy for success and hope he will resist a cut-off of funds, including a veto of legislation that might be passed blocking funding to implement that strategy. However, if a law was adopted blocking funding over his veto objection, which I hope and believe will not happen - of course, the President would be obligated to comply with it.

“It is a dangerous illusion to believe that we can depart Iraq and the inevitable killing fields and terrorist violence will not follow us in retreat - even to our own shores. That is why it is right and imperative that we recommit ourselves to success in Iraq.”

They're wondering where their giant nut had gotten to. They want to bury you out in some green belt somewhere, so they can dig you up later.

3. "Mixed message?" No, defunding the war sends one message - stop it now
Here's a message borrowed from Vice President Cheney for you, Sen. Joe:
Go fuck yourself.

You changed party just in time to be irrelevant again. No-one cares what you think. It's time for the real Republicans to finish Bush off just like they did Nixon. Et tu Hagel!

The fact that
this clown could of been gearing up to run for the presidency on the back off President Gore would of been truly frightening times for common sense Americans especially after these past 7 years.

26. Multiple people thinking it doesn't make it any less asinine.
Dual Loyalties

Throughout their history in the diaspora, Jews have frequently been accused of dual loyalty by their political opponents or anti-semitic detractors. Examples include the Dreyfuss Affair in France during the early 1900's, as well as accusations against ethnically Jewish Neoconservative foreign policy advocates in the United States during early 2000's. (See: Neoconservatism, American Jews, and "Dual Loyalty")

11. If you suffocate from having your head so far up Bush's ass Joe, I for
one won't shed a tear. Neither will many others. You have sold your soul to the highest bidder, for access, for power, for your shot at the golden ring? I don't know what the price was, I don't know what benefit you thought you were getting. But you are the single slimiest politician in Washington today - and you have secured a place in history, but not the one you sought. Just like when people ask how the Germans could have stood by and supported Hitler's rise to power and the abuses he did from there - some day, when children are studying the abuses of Bush's power and how close to destroying the US - your name will be there in black and white for all eternity - described as the traitorous enabler that you are.

16. Did you see him on MTP?
He was parroting these lines as well as other Repug talking points. But seeing him on a panel with Chuck Hagel was enlightening. Lieberman sounded like a whiney baby,

Joe: "Why don't we just let this work before shooting it down."

Me: Uh, because YOU'RE not the one being shot down, I guess. Plus, what rational basis do we have to "try" this? It's BEEN tried, many times, and has failed every time. It makes no sense.

Joe: "But if we pull out now, we LOSE! And all the bad guys will come here and kill us all!"

Me: Joe, we lost the minute we stuck our nose into the bees nest. There was no chance whatsoever that the outcome would have been positive for us. We all knew it; where the hell were you? Besides, the fact that we're over there is what's making everyone so angry with us. Whether or not we pull out now won't make a damn bit of difference on that front. We - that's to your pal George - are persona non grata everywhere in the world.

22. How sweet, so 650K+ dead Iraqis aren't enough, Joe?
Last count that I had was 3030 Americans and billions of dollars and that isn't enough, Joe? What exactly is the mission, Joe? Just more death and destruction, Joe?

To set the record straight, I strongly despise you and the pResident, Joe, and this is an emotion that I hadn't really felt until the Felonious Five hoisted him upon us and he set about being a total incompetent, fake christian, lying, warmongering, MoFo, Joe. But what the heck, I don't have to wash all of that blood from my hands, but I will continue to wonder just how you sleep at night and just how you can stand to look at yourself in the mirror.

The only thing that I will recommit myself to, Joe, is fighting you and your fellow neocons any and every way that I can think of.

I guess three zealots in a rubber life raft will be wildly paddling after the last troop carrier shoves off, so -- watch out, America! :scared:

With Democrats like Joe, who needs Republicans? :grr:
