I was watching a rerun of "Air Force One" last night and, as most of you know, that's a Harrison Ford line to the bad guy that's hijacked Air Force One.

However, that plane doesn't actually belong to the president. It belongs to WE THE PEOPLE. As does the White House. As does the national treasury. As does the power to discard a president, vice president, or any other elected official through impeachment.

Somehow, over the past six years, WE THE PEOPLE seem to have given away our power to demand accountability. And no one seems to have told Bush/Cheney that they are our employees.

Now that the Dems are in control of congress, will they do anything and everything in their power to rein in these maniacs? I guess we'll have to wait and see.

But hopefully, in the not too distant future, George W. Bush and his puppet masters will be ordered to "Get off OUR plane."

And so all those trips are done from the White House lawn directly to the Thurmont, MD area via Marine One, roughly a 30 minute flight unless he leaves straight from Andrews AFB. Still, about 30 minute flight time. so....


365 days X 2, 30 minute flights each (up and back) = 365 hours in the air divided by 24 = 15.208333 DAYS IN THE AIR!!!

15 solid days spent flying in a Helicopter to Camp David.

4. Quite frankly

I think many Americans just think all of DC is so corrupt that it doesn't really matter who they elect and none of them are believable. It's my humble opinion that the majority of Americans will never want Bush impeached regardless of what he does because of "impeachment fatigue".

Probably the main reason the R's went after Clinton. Make Washington look so damn silly that once the R's do get the WH again they can plunder with immunity.

6. Unfortunately, I have to agree with you, Rosemary. These thugs have

pushed the envelope so far, that any future president will believe that he/she can get away with virtually anything.

And this is the main reason that these criminals who currently are in power must be thrown from office and tried for war crimes.

I don't believe it will ever happen. But the Bush administration is the epitome of why the founding fathers put impeachment in the constitution. If this administration is not held to account, then I can barely imagine the bleak future in store for this country.

We, the People (or We the people) is obviously not a prepositional phrase. "the people" clarifies the "we" and can be dropped from the context without changing it. The OP's use of it is obviously drawn from the context of the preamble to the constitution, and it must be read in that context. Of course, the OP might properly have put the "We the People" in quotes, but he instead capitalized the phrase to read WE THE PEOPLE, to the same effect, and your criticism took it out of context.

While I have no problems with grammar police, I generally try not to be one myself except when I see something as blatantly incorrect as correcting something which needs no correction. And while I appreciate the love of language that motivates the impulse, in this case you might reconsider your assumption that led to this exchange. If I were to do the same, I would expect to be called on it, too.

8. I had these thoughts while watching "Air Force One" last night

First, if the current pResident were hijacked, would it turn into a "Ransom of Red Cloud" deal, with the terra-ists giving in to the demands of the American people just to get us to take him back?

Second, there's a scene at the end of movie where a crowd of citizens appear to be holding a candle light vigil and cheer when they hear the president is safe. I had an image of the crowd reacting in the opposite way if it were Dimson - throwing their candles to the ground, swearing and stomping away in disgust.
