The Army's 3rd Infantry Division began moving out two days after his speech on the matter. They had been getting ready for the past month. They were originally scheduled to return to the area in late March- April.
IMHO the "surge" is just a way to mask a buildup for the Iranian clusterf*ck to come sometime in late Feb- early Mar.

but I know that many of the 3rd ID here in Savannah and Fort Stewart are seriously affected by the move up in their deployment dates. The first wave of flights took several day and I know that more are in prep to deploy. The drills have stopped and that can only mean one thing, no more practice, time to pack up and ship out.

Maybe, because I know they better be wrong or we are in deep crap.

It is like this - The country put a big emphasis on technological supremacy. The cutting edge was in the 2nd and 3rd divisions. We figured we could deploy technology instead of numbers. You know the Germans made a similar choice in 1941.

I don't know a lot of the 3rd division - what happened with the units. But I know something of the 2nd.

There are four brigades in the 2nd. The 4th was just unceremoniously sent. The 3rd was rushed into Baghdad from Mosul - we know about the 172nd - and then there are the kids from Hawaii who must be on the edge of their seat.

So, when you say the 3rd division has been sent in - makes me very, very uncomfortable.

It was probably MSNBC because I was watching that for a while around the time KO was on. But it could also have been CNN or Headline News.

I hope Congress didn't think there was anything they could do to stop this before it happened. Bush** goes into hiding to mull nothing that isn't already a fait accompli; this was all in the works before he gave his speech last Wednesday. And I'm sure Iran was discussed at length as well.
