Satellite and Internet radio services would be required to restrict listeners' ability to record and play back individual songs, under new legislation introduced this week in the U.S. Senate.

The rules are embedded in a copyright bill called the Platform Equality and Remedies for Rights Holders in Music Act, or Perform Act, which was reintroduced Thursday by Sens. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Joseph Biden (D-Del.) and Lamar Alexander (R-Tenn.). The Dems as a party get tarred repeatedly by their DINO's (or by other special interest corporate lobby ass lickers). At any given time- on a given issue they'll go out and legitimize and enable any of a number of far right anti-consumer, anti-labor and other deregulatory policies.

One by one- it affects how ordinary people's perception (my brother being a case in point- he pretty well thinks that ALL politicians sell out the public interest for $$$ in their war chests). This is a major reason why people get cynical or apathetic and either don't vote- or :gasp: are willing to vote Republican.

Think about the track record of some high profile senators and representatives over the past 12 years.... seems to me that it's to be expected that a significant number of people will feel that way- for what look to them look like damn good reasons.

when a significant number of Dem (in the house last year it was around 40) consistently vote with Republicans- against the public interest, it tarnishes the ENTIRE party in the eyes of the electorate.

He doesn't support rights for gays, but his office is open to everyone

Feinstein supports gays (in theory), but whenever I call her office and talk to staff the first thing they ask is what corporation I am representing.

A tough choice - someone who doesn't support 11 per cent of all people, or someone who doesn't support anyone but her own elite crowd.

I figure, of the two, it is possible that Mountjoy will sometime, somewhere get a little insight into the gay issue.

But allowing users to program their devices to automatically find and record specific sound recordings, artists or albums--say, only all Michael Jackson tracks played on the service--would be prohibited. First, it doesn't mention HOW such restrictions would be enforced, also, the above OP never mentioned that shows couldn't be recorded, just that the FORMAT they are recorded in will be so riddled with DRM that it most likely wouldn't work with 90% of devices out on the market, like Ipods.
