2008 Electoral Vote Prediction:

Democratic Locks: 250
Wa - 11
Or - 7
Ca - 55
Mn - 10
Wi - 10
Il - 21
Mi - 17
Oh - 20 (you betcha)
Pa - 21
Hi - 4
Dc - 3
Md - 10
Ny - 31
Ct - 7
Ri - 4
Ma - 12
Vt - 3
Me - 4

Democratic Leaners: 45
CO - 9
Mt - 3
Ia - 7
Va - 13
Nh - 4
La - 9 (with enough ads, trust me.)

Democratic Maybes 68
Az - 10
Nc - 15
Mo- 11
Nm - 5
Fl - 27

It takes 270 to win. The easiest route to 270 after the 250 guarantee is:
Dem. Locks + Virginia (13) + Colorado (9) = 272
or
Dem. Locks + Virginia (13) + Louisiana (9) = 272
or
Dem. Locks + Virginia + Iowa (7) = 270
or
Dem. Locks + Virginia + New Hampshire (4) + Montana (3) = 270

Any non-Hillary (From a political science standpoint, she has baggage) Democrat will win in a landslide (300+ electoral votes). Only McCain makes it slightly more difficult for a Dem. in Colorado, Arizona, Virginia and a few other key 2008 swing states.

2. Missouri is key
Bush will continue to screw up his foreign policy, unfortunately for the nation, but it will serve to boost the Dems in this now swing state.

3. Some "locks" aren't locks against Giuliani
Edited on Tue Jan-16-07 01:05 AM by antiimperialist
In a hypothetical match-up against Rudy Giuliani, we would need to battle hard for states such as NJ and New Hampshire and Maine, given that Giuliani has some appeal in the Northeast, due to his liberal social leanings.
The good news is that Giuliani would at the same time be weak in states that Extreme conservative Bush carried with ease.

5. Virginia? I'm not so sure, they sent Allen last time and Webb by a tiny margin
had it not been for macaca, Allen, a true empty suit, would be in.

And while I hate to think there are only 2 families who can field presidents, Hillary has support in areas which would suprise you...surprised me.

6. Hillary is made of some tough stuff. What skeletons
are in her closet were pulled out and paraded around in the 90's. It's old news and could back fire on the Reps.

7. There ain't no such thing as a lock!
The mid-terms were a much bigger Democratic Party landslide than the certified counts. I wonder why...

If Congress does nothing about voting integrity during the next year or so, the current majority is all but doomed.

8. .
I think you forgot New Jersey. With NJ, it's clear. All the Kerry states + Ohio and the Dems would win.
