WHouse says Iraq death toll 'too high'

WASHINGTON (AFP) - The White House has said that too many Iraqi civilians died last year, and blamed terrorists for the death toll after a new UN report said over 34,000 Iraqis were killed last year.

"It's 100-percent obvious that the civilian casualty numbers are way too high," spokesman Tony Snow told reporters Tuesday as US President George W. Bush was poised to meet with new UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon.

Snow said the death toll reflected "deliberate activity on the part of terrorists to try to use civilian deaths as a way not merely to push the United States out but to allow them to gain traction within Iraq."

5. Blamed "terrorists"?! WTF?
Who really killed those 34,000, Tony? God forbid the WH recognize that any US forces were responsible. And isn't the term du jour "insurgents" - how conveeenient that they are now all labelled "terrorists"....

And this isn't even touching the FACT that the numbers of Iraqis that have been killed are in reality MUCH higher than the WH will ever admit.

7. even if they were not killed by "coalition" forces it is still the WH's fault.
all these people would not be dead if this war hadn't been started by the assholes in charge.
