Hannity coming unglued over FAIRNESS DOCTRINE.
Just heard Hannity commenting on Kucinich's support for the FD.He warned listeners to expect more of this and claimed that it is an effort to silence talk radio. THE TRUTH is that opposing viewpoints were silenced over the airwaves with the abbrogation of the doctrine in 1987. The purpose of the fairness doctrine is not to silence anyone but to allow for the diversity of opinion and to force accountibility for what is said. It is no coincidence the as soon as the FD was stopped in 87, Limbaugh came on the air in 1988 and things have gone down hill since.

3. Of course he is. The FD would make him liable for all the bullshit he
spews 24/7. It would put a stop to what I consider criminal behavior by the M$M.

4. Oh, but don't you know it's the FREE MARKET that determines what's on the airways?
(Including the notorious "marketplace of ideas.") If liberal talk radio could SELL PRODUCTS it would be in every market.

:sarcasm:

9. Just imagine if you will someone like John stewart opposite
Limbaugh or John Kerry being allowed to defend himself aginst the swiftboaters or Bill Clinton being able to tell how he did in fact take measures against terrorism - but was silenced due to the lack of an adequate forum to rebutt all the critics. That's what having a FAIRNESS DOCTRINE is all about. It's not meant to silence anyone.I can guarantee it will make talk radio a whole lot more interesting - hence, more profitable.

8. How can it matter to the Fair and Balanced network?
If they truly examine all sides of each issue fully, as they claim, it will simply be business as usual.

13. What about free speech and what about the duty of Congress
to ensure that the people are allowed to control THEIR airwaves?

14. The fairness doctrine is something the corporate media
doesn't want. They don't want to be fair, they want only their lies to make it on our airwaves. That way corporations can simply push their own point of view without bothering about the truth. Don't you just love monopolies, I mean free markets and deregulation?
