HEADLINE: 34,452 Iraq civilians said killed in '06
BAGHDAD, Iraq - Twin car bombs tore through a leading Baghdad university as students left classes Tuesday in the deadliest attack in Iraq in nearly two months, and the United Nations reported 34,452 civilians were slain last year, nearly three times more than the government reported.

2. So many conservative sites are celebrating the death of "ragheads"
The more dead the better, according to Ingraham, Coulter, Malkin, and Savage.

3. The Lancet statistical demographic study indicates otherwise.
Their study, using the same widely accepted methods used in other conflict areas to estimate deaths caused by the conflict, found around 650,000 deaths as of the time of the study, or around 400 deaths per day. That would be in the area of 145,000 deaths per year.

However even if we go with the UN numbers, that is one heck of a butcher bil for Bush's botched blunder. How many more will die so that Bush can leave office with the war still not lost?

4. bring back the quiet Iraqi dictatorship
wasn't it better when Saddam was killing his own people
quietly? All this violence on TV is upsetting my well being.
I prefer my dictators to do their business on their own air
time. If the dictators of Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
want to kill their people on their own, as long as I don't see
it I'm fine by that. This is the lesson for future
presidents. Trying to establish a democracy in a land
surrounded by dictators is messy. Try to be like Jimmy
Carter. He obligated the US to pay billions of dollars a year
to the Egyptian dictatorship and look how quitely they
suppress their people. I prefer it that way. Freedom of
choice isn't worth the trouble. If we only had cable tv back
in the 1930s the american people would see that invading
Germany just wasn't worth the carnage we brought upon the
German people when we leveled their cities.

13. bull
talk about a strawman argument...

Writing as someone who has had family killed by Saddam and who has helped people flee that country in the past few years. Ask the Iraqi people what they'd prefer.

What I think is interesting is how Conservative Republican Shills think that the extra lives lost are worth it to have freedom and democracy, yet here at home are quick to remove our freedoms and rights in the name of security.

10. Considering that so many have already fled the country.....
that's an enormous number. No, there's no civil war going on in Iraq. Probably all traffic accidents. :eyes:

12. I heard that today on the news.
I wonder if the neocons expected that many deaths even though I doubt the veracity of the numbers. It's probably much more. Oh what the hell do they care? Bring on democracy! :sarcasm:

14. Other ways to kill 34,452 people
Here are some other ways to kill 34,452 people:

Blow up Pan Am Flight 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland 127 times
Attack Pearl Harbor 14 times
Sink the RMS Lusitania 28 times
Sink the RMS Titanic 23 times
Ignite the Hindenburg 957 times
Fly passenger planes into the World Trade Center towers 12.5 times
Blow up the Alfred P. Murray Federal Building in Oklahoma City 205 times

Think about that for a minute. Now think about the fact that George W. Bush wants to send 21,500 more troops to Iraq. Are you mad yet?
