"The Enemy At Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11"
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 12:05 AM by EdwardM
Some jerk was just on the Colbert Report claiming that we should stop having gay marriage because it causes terrorist attacks and promoted a stupid book titled "The Enemy At Home: The Cultural Left and Its Responsibility for 9/11." Hey jackass, the last time I checked, it was religious right wing nut jobs who brought down the twin towers and not the "Cultural Left" or homosexuals, so shut your fucking mouth. This reminded me of a rapist who blames its victim. "Well if you weren't wearing that dress, you wouldn't have gotten raped." "Well if you wouldn't have had a gay wedding, you wouldn't have died in a terrorist attack." No difference between those two statements. So it looks like the right wing wants to supress our rights to please Muslim fundamentalists now?

8. You missed Colbert chopping him into little bits.
Giving the guy lots and lots of rope and then kicking away the stool under his legs once the rope was snugly around his neck.

I loathe Dinesh D'Souza-one of the worst-former Reaganite.
Colbert was AWESOME :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

6. Gay marriage causes terrorist attacks?
How many of the 19 hijackers were involved in a gay marriage or the product of a gay marriage? :eyes:

and God will not be mocked! So see it was god after all. No wonder they haven't bothered to get Osama.

15. There will be a rerun of the show in a hour and half
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 12:10 AM by EdwardM
11:30 Eastern 10:30 central. Don't know if its the same in the other time zones though. Be sure and watch. Its hard to believe he was actually a real journalist who sells book and not some character like Borat or Colbert. In fact, he seemed worse then either of them. What's the point of satire anymore when the right wing is now beyond satire?

Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 12:18 AM by blogslut
...because I was only sideways watching. I noticed Colbert got the man to include Roosevelt in his list of Dems responsible for 9/11.

Mind you, I don't know who the author is but from the title of his book, I knew his agenda. The second he opened his mouth and emoted regretfully about the Shah...I stopped listening.

18. Sorry don't have the video.
You can watch the rerun in an hour though.

His Name is Dinesh D'Souza. This guy was so insane, I thought he was a character. But I google him, and sure enough, he's a real guy. http://www.amazon.com/Enemy-At-Home-Cultural-Responsibility/dp/0385510128 I've never heard of this guy, who is he, and why is he saying this crap?

D'Souza has been around in the fringe of the wing for a long time.

Serious mental issues.

22. James Wolcott ripped him a new one
He often reviews books for Vanity Fair. Here's what he had to say about the review copy of the book:

It isn't rare that I take instant animus against a book like this. But I don't tend to react right away. The responsible thing for me to do as an occasional book critic is to wait until the official pub date, find a suitable venue for review, and thrash the book based on its merits.

But this is a special book, deserving special mistreatment. With The Enemy at Home, I prefer to do the irresponsible thing and declare war on Dinesh D'Souza and his stinking mackerel of a book starting now. I intend to pound this scurrilous piece of scapegoating at every convenient opportunity. It is long past due that the likes of Ramesh Ponnuru (Death Party A-Go-Go), Jonah Goldberg (Hillary Clinton Was Himmler's Mistress), and now D'Souza be put on notice that they are not going to get away with vilifying liberals, mainstream Democrats, radical thinkers, academics, and entertainers as traitors and terrorist sympathizers. They want to wage culture war? Then, to quote Nabokov, they should brace themselves and prepare for the next crash. They want to practice character assassination? They've picked the wrong time, the wrong adversary.

It's one thing when Michael Savage or Ann Coulter denounce liberals as heathen traitors. One spouts halitosis on the radio, the other is an exhibitionist hag; both cater to their fan base. But D'Souza isn't some low-grade, high-volume performance artist. He's a research scholar at the Hoover Institution at Stanford, which he thanks in the acknowledgments "for providing me with the institutional support to do my work." D'Souza writes, speaks, and thinks like something hatched in a think tank--a careerist toady.

Nobody can humiliate like Wolcott can. Here's the entire piece, entitled "Ratfink Writes New Book": http://www.vanityfair.com/politics/blogs/wolcott/2006/10/ratfink_writes_.html

19. Colbert got the author to admit that he agrees with some of the views
held by the terrorists and radical Islam--for instance, America has a "depraved" culture brought about by liberals. But, but, but, I thought Bin Laden wanted us to vote for John Kerry....
Apparently Bin Laden likes traditional, moral, family values and the fact that America doesn't have those values caused him to attack us....what????

I hope the video gets posted soon. It was unbelievable what came out of this guy's mouth.

21. He's been around a while
Dinesh Desouza, but I'm not sure if I'm spelling it right. He's basically Ann Coulter without ANY estrogen. David Brock refers to him in "Blinded by the Right", and says those two were buddies back in college.

The level of hypocrisy these people can reach never ceases to amaze me. I saw him on Bill Maher's show a few years back when the wing-nuts were foaming at the mouth over Monica. Someone had brought up the fact that adultery was not exactly a failing of Democrats only, Republicans had their share also, including Eisenhauer and Kate(?) Summersby. This moron actually said (and with a straight face) that what transpired between Eisenhauer & Summersby was not adultery (and under no circumstances should anyone think that!)because they were in love, therefore it was a love affair. Bill must not have heard him, because he didn't say anything. I truly couldn't believe my ears. The guys a jerk and needs to be ignored, along with the rest of the wing-nuts who are quickly becoming irrelevant.

25. I strongly disagree.
I think this guy needs to become the voice of the right wing. His message is, lets surrender our rights so terrorists won't attack us. Hey, isn't that what the right wing has accussed us of doing for years now? I say we make an example out of this guy. Let the people know that surrending to the terrorists is the new message of the right wing.

23. Actually it was even worse than
blaming a rape victim for what they were wearing because as contemptable as that excuse is there is AT THE VERY LEAST some twisted causality and connection.

Blaming 911 on gay marriage...I cannot find any causality, twisted, irrational or otherwise.
