Of course, the M$M wants us to think Hillary has it all sewn up even as they demonize her. But Hillary still has good poll numbers.

My pick would be Al Gore, in case didn't see my avatar, but even if he doesn't run...

Edwards - very populist. He did extremely well in the 2004 debates, although most people skipped those and, well, he was up against Cheney. But, he was actually the first one to mention that Lynn Cheney was gay, and complimented Cheney for him supporting his daughter and actually had Cheney thanking him! I could definitely get behind Edwards, and he could win.

Obama - I have heard his charisma level compared to JFK's. Yeah, so he's not a WASP. He is passionate and can get strangers to be passionate about issues they never cared about before. He's a true leader that can inspire people to rally behind him.

Clark - not as charismatic as Obama or Edwards, but a proven leader. As far as National Security issues are concerned, no-one has the cred he does.

OK, now on the Repub side, who have we got?

McCain - destroyed his "independent" cred that drew so many to him. Conservatives hate him. He'll never get the nom.

Guiliani - c'mon, his only claim to fame was the 9/11 aftermath. He's got too many skeletons in the closet that will sink him with the "moral values" folks.

Gingrich - ? Seriously? He resigned Congress in disgrace. No chance. No how.

Things are looking pretty good for Dems in 2008!

1. I love the diversity of the Democratic side

all over the country, diverse races (Obama, Edwards, Richardson), and women. The Republicans have the typical old white men. I look forward to the primary season when the party can show off some excellent candidates.

9. This morning, WJ set up callers to talk about Obama's "inexperience"

but the callers overwhelmingly said they didn't care. Some even said his "inexperience" is attractive to them because it means he isn't tainted. I was very surprised at how well liked he is across the board.

I think he could do this and didn't realize it until this morning. :wow:

Just like the media's picked McCain, it looks like the media is picking Obama.

If he doesn't fold under the pressure, Hillary has a problem she will likely not be able to solve on her way to the nomination.

Of course, after the nomination I expect the media to turn on him under GOP orders - and we will see the drug use as a kids no longer "no problem", the middle name implying whatever, and of yeah, he's black and first generation out of Africa. But I'd expect him to win despite that.

PS: JFK wasn't a WASP, either (White Celtic Irish Catholic vs. White Anglo Saxon Protestant), though thankfully we've come so far in this country that most people can't remember any more why it was an issue. I long for the day when we look back at Barack Obama in the same way -- as in, "his race was a problem how?"

The RW spin machine was able to make a man born into an artistocratic New England family and who attended posh New England prep schools and 2 Ivy League colleges, a failed businessman, a man who was an alcoholic, did hard drugs, is (at best) intellecually incurious, and who also deserted the military in a time of war and repackage him into a down-to-earth Texas Cowboy/regular guy and a good Christian man.

If they can do that with George W. Bush, I shudder to think what they can do with somebody who actually had at least one mediocre achievement in their lives...
