Check out the list of venues Rich Little is going to be playing other than the WH dinner!
So with that hip, edgy performance fresh in mind, the Correspondents Association has announced its decidedly safer headliner for this year's April 21 bash: impressionist Rich Little, mimic of dozens of celebrities -- most of whom are dead. Just check his Web site, www.richlittle.com.

Who wants to hear Paul Lynde? Cary Grant anyone? Jack Benny?

Hip? Perhaps in 1976. While Little has enjoyed a career as an impressionist since the mid-1960s, these days he's not playing comedy's A-list rooms. Next week, the 69-year-old Little is scheduled to play the Soboba Casino in the Riverside County city of San Jacinto. Three days later, he'll jet -- presumably -- to the North Iowa Community Auditorium for a gig in Mason City.

1. WH dinner, huh? Guess Colbert wasn't available.
I hear he has a great routine about supporting the president.

10. I don't know if I'd call it a career slide..
Maybe he's just retired and is doing small shows to stay busy?

That said, I have no clue why the WH correspondents would pick him since he's not the least bit famous any more. I wonder who makes that decision?

4. I remember him.
IIRC he did a Nixon imitation and was very hot during the Nixon years. As I recall, when Nixon resigned he pretty much disappeared. I never knew what happened to him.

21. I don't think I watched too many of those.
I remember him from various variety shows in the 70's. According to imdb he had a TV show in 76. http://imdb.com/title/tt0074046/

According to this website: http://www.tv.com/the-rich-little-show/show/2931/summary.html
it was a variety show and it only lasted about 5 months.

7. Rich Little??? This should be hilarious...
Not!

What a pathetic choice. But a safe choice, I guess. They had to find one comedian who doesn't hate Bush. Wait...What about Dennis Miller? He's not funny, either, but he sucks up real well...

9. You forgot Poland.
Rich Little will be performing at the annual Sausage Festival in Dachau, Poland next week.

Not really.

I made that up.

Still, he'd really be a hoot on a season of "The Surreal Life."

I wish they'd hired David Cross to host the dinner.

12. Aw, poor guy.
So many celebrities from my youth are six feet under today, so glad to hear one is still alive! And practicing his craft.

In the case of performing for the Chimp, that may be witchcraft.

23. I saw Scalia's belly laugh at Colbert.
The Justice may be a pig, but he knew real comedy when he saw it, at least. I doubt that Rich Little will do more than give the audience chuckles.

24. if Little was smart he would take advantage of this and turn in a
cutting edge performance. Perhaps scewering Bush and Cheney. It would get him a lot more media attention (like Colbert). But my guess is that he won't--especially since I see he has a Ronald Reagan appreciation on his website.
