What In Hell Does It Mean For A Court To "Monitor" An Eavesdropping Program?

The word missing in all of this is "WARRANT".

I do not give a tinker's dam about some judge sitting on a bench, any bench, and just giving the nod to anything the Justice Department tosses under his or her snoot. The Constitution demands Warrants be issued, and so do I .... god dam it!

1. You do know that that's what they mean. Alberto Gonzales...
is spinning to make it look like they aren't talking about warrants, but that's the way the FISA oversees spying.

2. These are the two important parts:
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 05:35 PM by MJDuncan1982
First:

"{A}ny electronic surveillance that was occurring as a part of the Terrorist Surveillance Program will now be conducted subject to the approval of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court."

This means there will be judicial review as defined under the FISA statute! Wonderful news!

Second:

"{T}he President has determined not to reauthorize the Terrorist Surveillance Program..."

This means that the program, as it existed outside of the FISA court, is now dead!

3. "The President...
has determined not to reauthorize the Terrorist Surveillance Program..."

means to me, that the Terrorist Surveillance Program was unconstitutional, or he would have authorized it to continue.
What makes B*shit feel the urgency of capturing terrorists,is less today?

:::church lady voice:::

could it be... I don't know...The Democratic controlled congress?
