I believe he was elected as an independent but is caucusing with the dems.

so I think his options are

-caucus with the pugs
-become a pug
-continue caucusing with the dems as an independent
-switch parties back to dem

oh. i dont think its really that important since we have the house.

3. He is a Lame Duck
Just like his "beloved". Too many R's now are getting a backbone, so ole Joe is irrelevant.

4. How may I gently phrase this:
Perhaps I should cut off my dick because I might not have sex tonight...

Same logic:

Yeah...let's cave in, have Supreme Court and Federal District nominees who could work for Hitler or Mussolini themselves sail thru the Senate...etc., all to 'let Lieberman change cuacuses.

10. Very, very well put.
With just a 1 vote majority in the Senate it is the height of stupidity to want to get rid of Lieberman no matter how one feels about him. Time to get in touch with reality.

6. No we need that bastard.
I hate that bastard trying to start real wars while trying to ban violent video games. I guess he prefers real violence to fake violence. The problem is, unless there are any somewhat sane republicans like Olympia Snowe who would take his place, we are stuck with Holy Joe. Its sad that right now the most powerful man in the Senate is Holy Joe.

8. LIEberman renegged on his promise to investigate the Katrina Massacre...
He's already abused his chairmanship position once.

LIEberman is worse than useless.

LIEberman simply gives cover to the GOP so they can subvert our own party.

FUCK LIEBERMAN!

11. politics really does make strange bedfellows
at least in the very red state area where I live. This area is ruled by republicans now, but years ago it belonged to the Democratic party. I've been doing a little research, hoping to stumble across a strategy or something that would help us flip the control again. It's impossible to discount things like momentum and tradition, but years ago the Democratic party here was very good at building voter blocks.

During prohibition, wets voted Democratic because the Democrats promised them light beer, and drys voted Democratic because the dems assured them that whiskey was evil. There were blacks that went Democratic because they were convinced the dems would support a federal anti-lynching bill, and during the same election the KKK voted dem for reasons I don't quite understand yet.

In areas like mine, we're not going to win on principle. The road to enlightenment is just to far to travel before the next election. I think we truly might be able to win by building voter blocks though, so I don't think we should exclude anyone from the party.

12. To those who want to keep him....
What difference does it make? This guy is swinging to the right of even the most conservative of conservatives. He doesn't want to even investigate Katrina and he's spearheading the push for escalation in Iraq (and probably Iran if that happens). So on what key issues are we banking on his support?

13. Not nearly as much as he'd like to see people like me out of the party.
You know, one of those horrible "leftists" who threaten the "not as bad as the Republicans" wing of the party.
