Anyone noticing less Hummers on the roadways?
Around here in red country I hardly see any these days. It wasn't that long ago that on any given day I'd see at least half a dozen. I saw one red Hummer a few weeks ago. That's been it.

Are people giving up their Hummers or just letting them sit?

1. I think they've been taunted or laughed off the road.

3. Still quite a few here in the OC.
But then, conspicuous assholery is a genetic trait in this neck of the woods.

4. In Ga., the knuckle-draggers keep on driving 'em
Those and Chevy Suburbans, Yukons, and every other automotive behemoth they can find that gets 6 mpg. Some of these morons will probably get second mortgages on their houses if they have to, to be able to afford the gas! Anything to spite tree-huggers like me.

5. I saw three in the parking lot at the Richmond airport yesterday
and one was that butt ugly school bus yellow.

Why anyone would spend that much on a car that is that ugly of a color is beyond me.

6. I've seen four on the road here
two black, one yellow (ugleee), and one some sort of metallic orange. Two were driven by trophy wives who looked like they were not enjoying the driving experience and two were being driven onto or off of the air base.

I certainly don't see them very often.

10. I must have seen 5 or 6 today
Not the real ones, but the H2s and H3s.

I live in southern Marin County am I am astounded by the numbers of these vehicles that I see every day.

They can barely maneuver in our hills.

My sister had a real Hummer and I have a World Class story about that, but I am just too slow to type it.

16. I see them everywhere around here. I saw one today...the BIG HUGE Hummer and it said
CONSERVATION in big HUGE letters on the sides and across the back (decals). I Googled the company and the owner is a developer. When I saw it, my head almost exploded! CONSERVATION??? Is he kidding?

I saw 2 just yesterday. I honestly don't know how people can afford to drive them and why they have no GUILT doing so.

20. Somebody probably objected to the "Fuck" decals, and removed
them, leaving only the "Conservation".

17. Not around my area
There must be something in the water around here that causes stunted growth of certain male body parts, b/c during my drive to/from work I see A LOT of overcompensation -- ginormous SUVs, Bubba trucks, and plenty of Hummers (and the dumbasses who drive them all badly). I not only laugh at them, but I also point.

All H1 production is going to the military and sales to civilians has stopped.

22. The sales to civilians stopped because they were selling very few H1's.

H2's and H3's are basically rebodied Tahoes and Trailblazers, I see lots of those.

I couldn't care less about those pieces of useless shit, and that goes for the drivers too.

26. About the same on H2's, but many more H3's.
Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 10:58 AM by roamer65
GM is pricing the H3 fairly aggressively. Honestly, I considered an H3 since I am a hardcore Great Lakes diver. It didn't have the equipment room that I need for dive trips, so I bought a club cab Colorado instead. Before I put on the flamesuit, two points:

1. My main vehicle is a 38mpg Nissan, my trucks have always been secondary vehicles.
2. This time I bought American to try to help UAW workers.

27. No, I've been seeing more around here lately, and the drivers...
always have that same bewildered, stupid look on their faces as I flip them off. I suspect the rise in the number of these moronic vehicles could be attributed to "small penis syndrome". The disease seems to be reaching epic proportions here in central Ohio. Especially after all the pansy-whining republicans that failed to get their #1 criminal choice, Ken Blackwell elected. I think it's a defiance thing around these parts. "Well, since we didn't win the election, I'll show those liberals, I'm getting a Hummer..."
