OMG! SUNUNU SAYS HE WILL BREAK WITH BUSH!!!
Edited on Wed Jan-17-07 11:09 PM by berni_mccoy
Ok, let me give some background. Every issue that has come up in the past 6 years that I've written about to this BushBot, I got a response letter that read like it was written by Karl Rove himself.

Sununu is wrapped up in the Abramoff Scandal to boot.

And now he says (as reported on WMUR, NH's ABC station) he can't support an increase in troops!?!?!?! WTF?!?!

Hell must be in the Atlantic because it's getting the same incredible ICE STORM we just got here in NH!!!!

45. Impeachment is possible. "Off the table" IMO is just politics
If Harry Reid tells Pelosi there are the votes in the senate, IMO, there will be an impeachment resolution introduced in the house in less than a week.

Impeaching these guys for fun, like the pugs did Clinton isn't worthwhile. They have to be removed or there is no point in it.

(written her, that is.)

I would imagine she would appreciate any words of appreciation.

Maybe this can keep rolling and get up to 60-40 or so. If anything is going to happen regarding funding, this non-binding resolution, much easier, needs a decisive win.

These GOP votes are essential, because without any, the vote would be a sure loss. (Lieberman for sure, and possibly Ben Nelson would be voting for the escalation.)

I have asked her over the years to do a lot of things
and she is a Republican through and through. I am not certain what makes her "moderate" unless it's gestures like this one, made once a decade, when public opinion so presses that she believes she has no choice. She would not switch parties, in other words.

The calls to end the war having grown too loud to ignore, they will let themselves be talked out of another escalation in order to maintain the status quo. Meanwhile, discussion of pulling the plug completely on the war has been effectively derailed, and a few Republicans appear to have distanced themselves from Loser Boy while still supporting the same corporate masters.

... on its way.

After the trouncing they took in the mid-terms, Republicans finally woke up to the facts: Stick with BushCo, you're out. Come over to the other side, you might -- might -- have a chance at political survival.

You know the old sayin' about being caught between Iraq and a hard place!

This is why I say that impeachment with conviction is not impossible. In addition to some other on-the-fence Republicans not up for re-election, we have 21 targets up for re-election in 2008 to go after that could be faced with either joining with the Dems on impeachment or getting booted out of office!

New Hampshire also just became significantly more of a blue state in 2006 as well!

Edited on Thu Jan-18-07 11:39 AM by Rebel_with_a_cause
I've heard it's 28 repub senate seats up for grabs, 6 dem seats. Is that right? If so, the GOP knows it's toast and will go the way of fellow Congressmen if it does not abide constituents.

On edit: I think I found the answer to my question:

17 GOP senate seats will be open and 10 dem seats. W/Allard (R-CO) retiring, that makes it 18 - 10 R - D seats open in 2008.

57. It's 21 Republicans vs. 12 dems

I guess you should think of Rush's old 2112 album to keep the numbers in your head... :)

http://www.senate.gov/pagelayout/reference/two_column_table/Class_II.htm

In 2010 it is then 19 Republicans and 15 Dems.

It isn't until 2012 that there will be 22 Dems along with 2 independents vs. 9 Republicans. Hopefully we can get rid of the independent how's last name begins with an L then!

They are taking a stand agaisnt Bush now when it really has no consequence. They can vote to not support the president and get cudos for doing so but it makes no difference as Bush is going to do what he has funding for already and they can do nothing to stop him from what I understand. Now if they want to get behind articles of Impeachment then we can say they are being courageous!

70. Calm down
The escalation of the war in Iraq or the widening of it into Iran is such a loony idea that that no sane person could support it.

Most white collar cirminals are sane. Unlike Dick Cheney, who is also a sane white collar criminal, Sununu probably isn't directly profiting from this maess. The only thing supporting escalation/widening is going to cost him is votes, not a fatter retirement from Halliburton.
