Just Curious How Many DUers NEVER refer To * As "President"
I made up my mind back in 2000 never to refer to * as "president." It's like breathing to me - automatic.

And never with a capital p. When reading those two words together in print, I never fail to elide the first one.

40. Thanks, Dinger!
The second this Idiot was installed in office, the husband and I started referring to him as the "Occupant".

That would seem to denote that he was simply an occupant of the White House, rather than a president.

But the real origin of the term was this: We figured that Cheney would be reading the REAL mail, and he'd just hand the Idiot the flyers marked 'Occupant', just to make him feel important.

To this day, he's probably still meeting with Cheney and the gang at least once a week to discuss what's on sale at the local DC supermakets, and to divvy-up the coupons.

I vowed I would never say the "P" word in front of the "B" word because he did not earn that title or the respect that goes with it. My kids have tried since 2001 to get me to trip up and say it but I haven't and I don't ever plan to.
Of course I realize that he is in fact the office holder and that he carries that title, but I will never, ever utter those words together because of the way in which he obtained it.

57. I make it a habit not to. The closest I come is "pResident," but
I do not attach it to his last name.

For example, here's my latest column - usually I refer to him as "Junior," "Dubya," "Bush" - at least in the column, even though I don't bother capitalizing when I'm ranting in general. There are LOTS of ways to refer to him without reaffirming the title he did not earn, and does not deserve. I happen to like "Humpty Dumpty" at the moment:

78. That's another good one. In fact, I originally found my way to DU from
a site called "Resident bush." Back in 2001, before September 11th. It linked me to Buzzflash, which led me here. I just do NOT like associating the ill-gotten-gain title with that bastard's name. It does NOT fit. The two words do NOT belong together. And I can't, anyway, because I cannot bring myself to acknowledge that creep as my president. 'Cause he's NOT. I refuse to recognize his claim on OUR Oval Office. 'Cause he doesn't have one.

To me,he's not our president because he wasn't elected by the people and I would NEVER call someone that stupid and evil president of our country. He's the biggest embarrassment we could ever have. Plus,I hate him with a passion. He's too incompetent to hold such a powerful job.

I remember kids in my school making fun of kids like bu$h.It should never have been an option for him to even RUN,let alone be placed in such a serious position. It boggles my mind that a person doesn't even have to be intelligent to be a President of the United States. In this day and age all that's necessary is to be the "kinda guy you would like to have a beer with". This country is sooooo phucked up anymore. It's not the America I grew up in,that's for damn sure. :puke:

...but as a reminder that he is taking up the space of someone who could. As a reminder of the responsibilities which he is reneging on every minute of every day of his occupation. As a reminder that only a real president can begin to undo the damage done by *'s Executive branch. He's not up to the job, not in any way whatsoever, but it's his for now, and every last American who isn't a billionaire should be distancing him/herself.

I do have to grit my teeth to call him president. Believe me, I understand your point of view. My wife agrees with us both, by the way.
