On January 17, 1706, Benjamin Franklin was born in Boston.

Ben said many profound things during his life and many that we still quote today, such as
"If you would not be forgotten As soon as you are dead and rotten,
Either write things worthy reading, Or do things worth the writing.

Of all the hundreds of things he invented or employed, he refused to register a single patent - it was against his principle of creating for the common good.

And it is a testament to his unsurpassed diplomatic skill that we are a country at all - he spent a year in France, convincing them to finance our American Revolution.

Oh, how far we have fallen....
