Poll question: If we moved the capitol of the United States, where should we put it?

I just read in another post that DC is at sea level, so with global warming, we'll have to move it anyway.

We can build a dike around DC to protect the tourist attractions, but it wouldn't be smart to have a capital that can be drowned with one strategically placed barge full of dynamite.

The Mason-Dixon line has been moving southwards since 1776. By the time of the Civil War, it was roughly at the latitude of Baltimore. By the 1950s, it was roughly at the latitude of Bethesda, MD. By the 1970s, it was south of Dupont Circle. It is now roughly at the latitude of the Woodrow Wilson Bridge. Maryland (except for self-described Southern Maryland, south of the Bridge) now considers itself proudly northern. Unlike, say, Kentucky.

That said, I have southern relatives and if we're going to have a Southern capital, it should be PROUDLY southern. Biloxi, maybe?

I went strictly on the fact that the Liberty Bell was hidden in Allentown. Since Philly was already suggested, and Washington will be underwater, I figured Allentown with it's higher elevation would work. You can bet any redevelopment would de-armpit the area.
