Is DU now just a mirror of what's happening on television?
Who is saying or doing what on tv?

Is that what DU is now?

I'm guilty of posting many threads myself about KO, so am not casting stones, but wonder.

Is everything that is now on tv fodder to be posted on DU?

3. Heck if I know...
I don't post stuff like that.

I'm one of those who prefers his own words to what's going on in the corporate media.

4. Now? What do you mean "now?"
I've been here four years. Ain't much changed in that realm.

The tellie has always been fodder for DU.

9. For some, sure. For me and others no. TV, MSM and the Internet are all part of Information
Warfare here in BFEE's HOMELAND(tm).

Many of US discussed that here about a year ago.

10. I've been getting my t.v. news from DU for years.
I don't watch any news on t.v. and I barely watch t.v. at all anyway but yet I feel pretty informed about t.v. and can usually keep up with a conversation about what's being said in the mainstream media because of what I read from the informants here.

14. I dunno.
It works for me. I don't have to bother with TV but as a news, politics, and gossip junkie I can rest assured that if something happens that people are talking about, or something happens on t.v. that's interesting, I'll know about it. All that and all I have to do is go to one website. So if you're into that kind of thing, it's good I guess at least on that one level. I'm not really sure what angle you're viewing this topic that would cause you to consider discussions relating to television "bad." It also sounded as though you were suggesting that lots of t.v. discussions were something new around here.

13. I think DU is a mirror...
but of much more than television. Inside many threads are pure gems of information that can set me off on a wild goose chase from which I return with a completely different perspective on people, places and things. The analogy of a hand is descriptive of my impression of DU...where some fingers are longer, used more, or at times seem unnecessary, but the hand doesn't work without each contribution.

19. You and I
are like circles orbiting around the same wave-length, constantly bumping into each other. Each time we meet, our perception changes a teeny bit. I've heard miracles defined as the slightest degree of altered perception...the results being that profound.:toast:
