Unfortunately, we do need Congress, to enact the impeachment. However, this is entirely possible. They are our representatives. They will do what we tell them, if enough of us do. Contact your representatives today. Our world is at stake.

2. Congress may be the only thing that can end it, but will they?

The constitution is a piece of paper. It doesn't end wars.

Impeachment removes a president, if it passes. It doesn't end wars, either. Maybe the replacement, President Cheney, will end the war, but I sort of doubt it.

Nobody in Congress seems to want to remove funding for the war. Even Democrats have backed down from the pre-election rhetoric. So even if a Democrat is elected president in 08, it may not end the war.

This isn't what I had in mind when I voted in November.

3. Then blame the last Congress

They have already allocated the funds that Bush is using.
As far as I know, this Congress hasn't had an opportunity to do that.

and all the congresses going back to the start of this mess in 1991. But that's not really helpful.

Only THIS congress can do anything. All those other congresses are history (and good riddance).

I know it takes time for anything meaningful to happen in Washington, but kids are dying and money is flowing into the sinkhole. I guess I'm impatient.

sacrifice, and the people are cowed or afraid or indifferent.

And it is understandable. No one person should be asked to suffer the full power of the Government.

7. This is incorrect.

Congress CAN end the Iraq war by amending or reversing the IWR.

If the president vetoes the legislation, the veto will have to be overridden.

But Congress has the authority.
