Pelosi, White House clash over Iraq: Its a * smack down!!
WASHINGTON - House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (news, bio, voting record) contended Friday that President Bush is rushing new troops to Iraq and betting that Congress won't cut off funds once they're in battle. The White House called her assertion "poisonous."

In an exchange of harsh rhetoric that underscored the intensity of the political fight, Pelosi, D-Calif., said the war should not be "an obligation of the American people in perpetuity."

"The president knows that because the troops are in harm's way, that we won't cut off the resources. That's why he's moving so quickly to put them in harm's way," Pelosi said on ABC's "Good Morning America."

Nancy Pelosi Learned Her Politics At the Elbow of Her Father the Mayor

By Lynne Duke
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, November 10, 2006

When she wasn't racing to school at St. Leo's in her blue uniform or buying sweets in Mugavero's Confectionery or playing on front stoops up and down the block, Little Nancy sometimes worked the front desk at the family home at 245 Albemarle St., taking down the requests and sad stories of the folks who arrived to seek help from Big Tommy, her dad.

Or maybe she was riding around with her dad and his bullhorn, as he touted his candidacy from a convertible.

The late Thomas J. D'Alesandro Jr., also known as Old Tommy or Tommy the Elder, was the flamboyant and legendary machine politician, a Roosevelt Democrat, whose only daughter is the woman poised to be the speaker of the House, second in line of succession from the presidency.

She grew up stuffing envelopes for her dad. She grew up watching how the political game was played. She saw how favors were handed out, how chits were called in. She watched her mother balance full-time motherhood with grass-roots organizing, and later followed her example. Albemarle Street was Nancy Pelosi's training ground, the center of a political universe forged from a community as tight-knit as an Italian village.

19. "questioning the president's motivations"
"I think questioning the president's motivations and suggesting that he, for some political reason, is rushing troops into harm's way, is not appropriate, it is not correct..."

Really? Because I think it's about f'ng time someone pointed out that the bastard was using human beings a chess pieces.

21. Flashflighter, please. You offend me.
A chess player shows much more concern about his pawns and pieces than Bush shows about the troops.

If a chess player finds himself in the position that Bush and Cheney find them themselves in Iraq, he doesn't sacrifice more material. He resigns. Which is what they should do -- figuaratively and literally.

22. I apologize.
I did not mean to offend any chess players; that is a highly intellectual game, one W could NEVER figure out, as he keeps saying, "Ohhh...horsie"...

Let's say W is playing "Bullsh*it" and keeps saying that he has 5 kings.

20. Steven Hadley said the same thing on MEET THE PRESS 1/14/07
MR. RUSSERT: If Congress decides to cut off funds for the new troops being deployed to Iraq, will the president accept that decision by Congress and abide by it?

MR. HADLEY: Tim, we’re not there yet. We have funds in the ‘07 appropriations bill to deploy these troops. I think once they get in harm’s way, Congress’ tradition is to support those troops.

http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16577874/page/3/

Pelosi isnt saying anything that hasn't been said before.

They are betting that since the troops will be already there, congress will continue to fund the war...they are hoping that the Democrats will continue to enable them as the GOP Rubberstamp congress had.
