Cartoon/Comedian Prediction: Bill Clinton "Cookie Recipes"
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 03:52 PM by CorpGovActivist
I cringe to think of the topical "ingredients" that are going to be shown in political cartoons, Dave Letterman Top 10 Lists, etc. for when Bill Clinton has to submit his cookie recipe to Family Circle: http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&q=first+lady+cookie+recipes+family+circle

P.S. I suggest that he have fun with it, though. For example, choose a recipe that requires setting aside some ingredients for a later step in the recipe, and then say, "Now, stir in your SURPLUS of {fill in the blank with the held-back portion of the ingredient/s in question}..."

P.P.S. On additional thought, having him actually bake his cookies on Oprah could be right up there with his sax solo, especially if he donned an apron.

1. OMG, Too funny! That'd be a real hoot!
Just think of all the cookie cookbooks that would be bought and proceeds donated to charity!

P.S. Where is IdesofOctober? It's almost Ides of March, :)

2. He Has a Built-in Advantage...
... on the first spouse's humanitarian interest thing, too: http://www.clintonfoundation.org/index.htm

Clinton could team up with the Girl Scouts to sell a brand new cookie flavor, with X% of the proceeds going to the Clinton Foundation's work on children's issues around the globe. With Oprah helping to push it...

P.S. Ides is fine. Very, very busy after the mid-terms, but fine.

3. It would be a classy thing to do
And I bet the Clintons would do it.

I have a cookbook called Pot Luck: recipes from the stars which was published in Britain in 1995 to raise funds for a school for autistic children in North London. To judge by some of the people who sent in recipes, the school evidently cast their net wide. While most of the more than a hundred contributors are British -- including such as Margaret Thatcher, the Archbishops of Canterbury and York and a who's-who of British politcians, restaurant owners and entertainers -- there are also some foreign ones headed by Queen Noor of Jordan and Princess Caroline of Monaco.

The only contribution from America is a recipe for chocolate chip cookies signed Hillary Rodham Clinton, at the time First Lady of the United States.

4. That is impressive!
My house runneth over with cookbooks. If I had known about this particular cookbook in 1995, I would have added it to my collection!

5. Thank you! It's nice to be here.
I imagine you could still find the book on alibris.com or addall.com. The editor is Caroline Esdaile, publisher Kyle Cathie Ltd. It's worth finding; there are some very nice (and easy) recipes in it.
