Now that the 'race to the White House'
has more or less officially begun, I'm going to be pragmatic....I'm going to think of it as just another day at the races. I'll check it out, see who's going to be running. If I like the looks of one of em, I might pony up a little something for the horses grooming, transport, and feed fees. It's a feel good, a confidence booster of my keen observatory prowess. The day of the races I like to be there early. Some people only bet the last races, but I like to keep my eyes on the tote board...watch the odds and keep my ear to the ground. I find this a fascinating time ...muddy track, blinders on, bad jockey, great trainer, did the horse shit today...all very important. when the time comes,..just before they close the window...I bet my horse to win. And they're off...what a frigging mess. A photo-finish, an injured horse along with a really messed up jockey, several inquiries..but my horse is a winner!! I don't collect any of the pay-out because the big race is still to be run. In fact, in order for me to feel part of the big day I double up on my contribution to the horse's upkeep. Now that I think of it, this race never ends. There's never a clear winner, never a pay-out. I'm not going to the races anymore. Let me know who wins.

1. I love your comparrison! It really does fit too.
I'm not much into horse racing myself, but I always watch the 3 biggies. I een bet on the Derby & the Preakness once. Unfortunately, this one is VERY LONG!!!! I only wish it was a buildup of a few weeks like the three biggies in horse racing are!

Oh, I'll watch, and if one particular horse entices me, I might even spring on a bet or two.
