So, is Hillary running the true reason for Carville's insane attack on Dean?
Edited on Sat Jan-20-07 11:41 PM by CatWoman
As Clinton kicks off a bid to follow in her husband's footsteps to the White House, she is trying to reconstitute much of his old team.

Many familiar figures from the 1990s, such as Lockhart, are back in the Clinton corner formally or informally -- political advisers, fundraisers and policy aides such as James Carville, Harold Ickes, Mark Penn, Mandy Grunwald, Ann Lewis, Maggie Williams, Bruce Reed, John D. Podesta, Patti Solis Doyle and Terence R. McAuliffe.

4. I thought partly that reason and partly a lapse

into plain ol' jealousy. The spotlight had moved off him for awhile, until his attack.

6. I think any problems between Dean and the Clintons are a little
exaggerated.

So, until further evidence comes along, I'm going to say no. Carville's attack on Dean was just Carville being a stupid ass.

8. I believe so. Carville alluded to the attack being in regards to
the Clintons. Why I do not know. I think it may be something to do with DLC and DNC. But, specifics I wouldn't know. I'm just guessing but, feel this is the reason.

9. She's Not Denounced His Attacks
But she did attack Kerry for his bumbled joke.

Draw your own conclusion.

11. yes, and....
....the corporations know we're trying to build a party, from within, that represents us, the grassroots, and they're opposed....

....without controlling the levers and agenda of both political parties they won't be able to maintain their locked on our government and economy....

....Washington is full of professional corporatists for hire and they circulate and re-circulate continuously....

....but the days of the Left sitting back, being 'polite' and 'fair' are over....the corporations smell the winds of change and they're doing (and will be doing) everything possible to get out in front of it and manage it to their ends....

....just follow the money....

13. Well, here are Carville's words on that very question.
http://journals.democraticunderground.com/madfloridian/838

"Flush with victory after the election, Rahm’s allies, led by Carville, try to mount a coup at the DNC by publicly attacking Dean and suggesting he be replaced by Harold Ford, a Tennessee moderate who just lost a Senate race. “You can’t go into 2008 having a party chairman that is completely disconnected from the congressional leadership and the campaign committees,” Carville tells me, further pounding the wedge that divides the Deaniacs and the Clintonites. When I ask if Rahm agrees, Carville says, “It’s not any secret that Rahm has expressed disdain for Dean and not very secret that Rahm and I are close. It doesn’t take a lot of dot-connecting here.”

What about the Clintons, who, given Hillary’s presidential ambitions, have more cause for concern about who runs the DNC in 2008? “Let’s just say nobody has called me telling me this is a bad idea. Sometimes silence is eloquence.”

Just using his own words from the GQ article about Rahm at the link. He is pretty nervy.

14. No, it's just different political ideology.
And the press kinda prodded his unflattering remarks about Dean which are frequently characterized here at DU as being an attempted coup; they were not. When asked if Dean should be replaced, he answered yes. They are just bitchy words from an old fart.

Carville is old school, had a winning strategy in the War Room in 1992 and it's no skin off our nose to acknowledge that. I have never understand the serial jihads waged here at DU. As adults we should be able to have an eclectic group of friends and associates, and also be able to find good points in people.

The good doctor was never in danger because of Carville's snotty words.

And, of course, there is a bond between Carville and Begala and the Clintons. I don't see anything in particular wrong with that and I also see no connection to his cracks about Dean. It was pretty clear as a strategist he was rendering his opinion, being an asshole about it, but much less an event than the big deal made of it here at DU.

15. The more I think about it...all it accomplished was anger.
If anything it did not hurt Dean. But it made Carville look petty. It was one of those things that did not make sense...I mean calling the NYT to gripe about Dean. No sense to it.
