Battle of the pipsqueaks: Beto GONZALES vs Harriet MIERS

No link. It's somewhere on ABC.com. I was only half-listening to the end of the George STEPANOPOULIS circus, where earlier he said Senator CLINTON was "SUCKING UP ALL THE OXYGEN."

Some breathless reporter was acting like she had some BIG story, to the effect that when Shrub nominated Mommy MIERS, Beto was SHOCKED!!!1 The reporter failed to give the basis for his shock. She said both Beto and MIERS had been Shrub tokens from way back in TX, had been the first-woman and first-Hispanic for various thingies, and that Beto had been on lists for the nomination, too, and that his staff told him HE HAD TO DO SOMETHING about the MIERS nomination.

This reporter made this seem like some EPIC confrontation, without giving the reasons for it. To all of us here it was clear that the MIERS gambit showed more of Shrub's CONTEMPT for all institutions, one more INCOMPETENT Shrub-flunky filling critical slots.

So anyway, Beto gathered up his testicles and went to face Shrub and "laid out his concerns" about the MIERS nomination. AND SHRUB LISTENED!!1 That in itself is epic, Shrub LISTENING!!1

So the reporter says that Beto's taking this stand was "IRONIC" because wingnuts were TOTALLY AGAINST him himself as being too MODERATE or somesuch. Whereas we here KNOW that THE REAL REASON FOR wingnut disdain for him being their CORE racism despite their cynical willingness to USE tools like him for their own purposes----so long as no REAL power is involved for the token.

I have NO idea why Steppie gave air to this story at this time and why it is being played UP. But we know the Shrubbite gambit of putting TOKEN minorities up for slots. It started with Poppy and Clarence.
