Bob Schieffer giving the Democratically-controlled Congress their props this morning!
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 11:43 AM by journalist3072
Did anyone else catch Face The Nation this morning? I caught it just as Bob Schieffer was doing his commentary, and he was giving the new Democratically-controlled Congress their props, specifically when it came to them passing the ethics reform legislation.

He was saying something along the lines of its been a long time since Congress really deserved some praise.

His comments are online as well at:

http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2007/01/21/opinion/schieffer/main2381281.shtml

As I was watching him, I thought, this is what you call keeping faith with the American people. I'm a registered Indepedent (I left the Democratic party in January 2005, out of my fustration that only one Senator would sign on to the objection of the Ohio electors that John Conyers, et al raised). But I am really proud of the Democrats thus far. They went to the American people with an agenda and basically said if you give us back control of Congress, this is what we will do.

And they are making good on that promise. Well done!

1. But according to the MSM the Democrats fell short of their agenda so far
Of course they need to be congratulated on their accomplishments..but here it how it works and the media know this ..there are much less informed Democrats(or Independents) that believe what they hear.. (example) A Democrat will set down in a coffee shop and someone will say "Well the Democrats didn't do what they said they would" and where did they hear this..The corporate media has a hell of an influence on some voters and they know it....

2. If the MSM had been on the republican congress
the way the constantly berate the democrats this country would not be in the mess it is today. More people would have been informed of the crooks and the corruption of the republicans.

People who live on the East Coast know quite a lot about congress. But the south, the midwest and the northwest only hear what people like rush and the Fox Boys spew. How can they expect them to kick the crooks out when they did not know what they were doing. It is only recently when they got so outrageous that the press reported. And then they did not report the whole stories. If the whole country knew of DeLays corruption his trial would be over and his ass would be in jail. Look at Foley, nothing has been done. Coulter - three felonies and no trial fact is, no charges have been filed. The law enforcement community in Florida doesn't want to file. That's the type of thing that has to be corrected. Look at all the press Patrick Kennedy got when he fell asleep or something after taking a sleeping pill and driving. You would have thought DC had been invaded by the terrorists. But you don't see anything about coulter in the papers.

5. No, he did not. He did not use the word Democrat or Democratic ONCE.
He congratulated the Congress, without saying that the Democrats were leading.

This was really noticeable.

8. The lengths the corporate media will go to to avoid
any hint of being "liberal" is astounding, isn't it? And while some will say that everyone KNOWS it's a Democratic congress, that's not true. Some really don't. Some have forgotten. And besides, it sounds like he's just praising the entire body, republics included. Now why would he do that I wonder?

7.  So maybe you'll become a Dem again?
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 01:28 PM by senseandsensibility
Well, we can always hope. I'm glad that the Dems are getting some props from the corporate media.
Edited to add maybe it wasn't so good if he didn't say the word Democratic once.
