KS: O'Reilly's exhortation gets tepid response.
Here's the headline on Section B of Saturday's Wichita Eagle (should note that the protest isn't really underway yet so there likely will be more people showing up for the this year's ceremonial observance):

Protests Target Clinic, DA's Office

Deb Gruver and Fred Mann

And here's the first couple paragraphs:

Fox News' Bill O'Reilly called for thousands of people to protest physician George Tiller's abortion clininc, but only a few dozen people turned out forthe first day of Operation Rescue's "Wichita '07 -- A Cry for Justice" protests Friday.

They intermingled with about an equal number of abortion-rights supporters behind a bright orange fence that police erected outside Tiller's clinic on Kellogg near Oliver.

Operation Rescue president Troy Newman said more people would be joining the protestsas the weekend progressed. The protests will last through Monday, the 34th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, ....

4. I was in high school in Clearwater, KS, a small farming community
During Operation Rescue's heyday in the 1990s. About 15 miles from Wichita. Back then, traffic was regularly brought to a halt because of the things they did. Anti-abortion farmers from around the Wichita area held a parade of tractors down Kellogg Ave. where the clinic is located. Smart-ass teenagers set up a wading pool (it was summer) a block away and held up signs that said, "Honk if you love cheese," and "Rugburns hurt!" My anti-choice sister almost got into a fistfight with other audience members at a Phil Donohue show filmed in Wichita.

A few dozen people? Feh.

Oh, the glory days are gone.

5. Bad Weather In KS?
Isn't Kansas getting some of that ice storm right now? I mean, clinic protesters might be a bunch of religious nutcases, but I'm guessing that they do know enough to come in out of the rain. :D

7. Yes there was snow that day, so that could explain the low turnout too.
Also, I don't know when O'Reilly said what the article attributes to him, but he regularly says insane things about various areas of the country and various movments involved in the various wars he invents, the War on Christmas e.g.
