One of US President George W. Bush’s most trusted advisers will be in Manila this week for meetings with President Arroyo and other Philippine officials.

As under secretary of state for public diplomacy and public affairs, Karen Hughes is in charge of improving US image abroad amid the war on terror.

Her official biography said she is in charge of promoting American values and confronting ideological support for terrorism around the world.

Hughes will be in the country for three days from Wednesday, US Ambassador Kristie Kenney told The STAR. Hughes will visit Sulu, where American troops are helping the Philippine military in the fight against terrorists...Hughes would visit China before coming to Manila and then returning to Washington.
