If Gore Had Chosen {???} As His Running Mate in 2000, FL Wouldn't Have Mattered...

... if you accept the proposition that Gore's choice of running mate would have made a decisive difference, then the question becomes: who - among those not likely to run for the top of the ticket in '08 - has a real chance of making a real difference as the Veep nominee, this go-around?

For my part, I offer two possibilities:

1. Former VA Governor Mark Warner; and
2. Senator Jay Rockefeller.

I'm darn curious to hear others' ideas for strong Veep nominees, with a focus on non-candidates for the top of the ticket.

Warner wasn't elected VA Governor until 2001. Back in 2000, he was merely a defeated Senatorial candidate (ran against JOHN Warner in 1996 and lost) who was worth millions from making money in the cell phone industry.

3. Well, I don't accept the fact

that Lieberman had anything to do with it. The Rethugs wanted to steal the election, so they did.. it didn't matter who was gonna be VP. Gore did win the popular vote, so most Americans didn't seem to care
who his running mate was. I think they will now, though, ironically when Gore has the absolute most clout of anyone I can think of.

I understand the "party faithful's" admiration of Feingold, but the point of this exercise is to hold an "iffy" blue state or - better still - flip a red state in '08.
