Can anyone make sense of what Condi said?
Rice repeated that Washington considers Iran a troublemaker in neighbouring Iraq by supporting insurgents with money and bombs. But she insisted Washington was not looking for an escalation of the conflict with Tehran.

"We are not trying to escalate this. Our plan is to try to respond to Iranian activity that is harming us," Rice said in Der Spiegel in an interview published on Sunday.

She also repeated that Washington was not interested in talking with Iran and Syria about the future of Iraq.

"If the Iranians and the Syrians wish to support stability in Iraq, there are plenty of ways for them to do it," Rice said.

"The only reason to talk to us would be to extract a price, and that's not diplomacy, that's extortion."

5. It's perfectly simple.
Daddy will spank Iran for being naughty in Iraq.

If Iran tries to fight back then Daddy will really spank.

Daddy does not negotiate with the kids. They obey or they suffer the consequences.

I thought it was perfectly clear.

7. how does this phrase fit in then?
"If the Iranians and the Syrians wish to support stability in Iraq, there are plenty of ways for them to do it," Rice said.

How about she explains what those plenty of ways are? She's speaking in codes.

8. Negotiating with enemies is surrender to their extortion.
It is Busholini speak meaning that a Super Power does not give any advantage to lesser nations. It is grade school bully mode.

9. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. Now I get it.
BushCo considers diplomacy the same as bipartisanship: they tell you what to do, and you do it. When someone else tries to call attention to their own agenda, or tries to get support for it, that's extortion in the BushCo lexicon. What would be a diplomatic discussion leading to a compromise agreeable to both parties in the real world, is a shakedown to BushCo.

In other words, no one else gets a say, ever.

14. I believe it is called a Dictatorship!
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 07:34 PM by lyonn
When the powers that be listen to no one and make all the rules then they are not running a Democracy. That pretty well describes the bush bunch, no discussion with the American people, no legitimate press, no discussions with any country that disagrees with them. They just tell the world what "Their" plan is. And then there is Cheney's famous phrase to Leahy, "Go F---- yourself".

Edit: Condi and gang had/have no intentions to have discussions with Syria or Iran, her words are lies and deceiving (subterfuge) the crowd, just like the words that were used to allow us to invade Iraq.
