3. Cross between snowflakes, and frozen rain balls, not hail because it
was too light weight, kind of like bushitler.

39. (grin) It's called 'sleet'
It's heartening that there are people who haven't had as much of that crap those of us who have and know all the names (including 4-letter ones) for it.

56. Yes, usually. It's snow that melted and refroze while falling.
Edited on Sun Jan-21-07 11:02 PM by TahitiNut
It's often 'crunchy' - like micro-crushed-ice. Sometimes it doesn't quite refreeze hard (or melts after freezing) so it feels like a grain of ice inside a very cold raindrop.. For comparison, hail is rain that freezes. Given the low humidity, just the evaporation from the surface of the melting snow could be enough to refreeze it. Since the temperature is hovering right around 32-33 down there, that's probably part of how it's happening.

4. It snowed here . . .
in the Inland Empire in Southern California last week. I don't own a scraper and didn't know how I was going to get the ice off of my windshield. I ended up using warm water. My coworker used a credit card.

snow on her patio in Tucson as it is here in Phoenix. I'm also in the city, not an outlying area.

... weird storms in Europe, no snow in Northeast,
record heat 5 or 6 years running.

It's all pretty normal and been this way since
humans and dinosaurs romped together a couple
thousand years ago.

It has a coil in the center and radiates some nice heat. $60 last year. Turns off when it tumps over. You might want to look at them. My hounddogs love it!

I'm afraid it isn't happening here. BIL has a home in far N. Scottsdale and got a lovely blanket there. I think I'll take the little guy up north sometime soon. I was raised in Colorado and Montana so I happen to love the stuff!

:hi:  My son was all excited. He even ran outside to pick some up and ran in to show me with a disappointinly empty hand as it had melted before he got back in the house with it. I just don't like driving in it to get there. Desert dwellers are scary in the snow.

48. I don't remember their dingdang name. But they had a great black and white
postcard that I kept for years. Oh, and in the main room of the "restaurant", the ceiling is papered with dollar bills. This was not a commercial type place but run by a private family. I think I was there in 1998.

Is this ringing a bell or are all the bells frozen over? :)
