5. There are other concerns at the White House

Bush doesn't read the paper--they cut out the articles they think he absolutely needs (you know, like today's episode of Peanuts--they can't even put Dear Abby in there because, eventually, they're going to have to tell him a story when someone asks, "Why do I feel like my president is a Nazi?") and paste them in a scrapbook. He doesn't watch the news. Any briefing you want to give this man has to fit on a single sheet of paper, probably double-spaced. Bush doesn't KNOW his approval ratings, because he's never told. He's not concerned about them. They tell him the people love him, and that's good enough for him.

The real concern at the White House, among the people who insulate him from the real world, is how his approval rating compares to Millard Fillmore, Warren Harding and Richard Nixon.
