2. Actually, that's bad advice, but they have a point.

You being sad and depressed that the world sucks will not help the situation out at all, it's just one more person having a bad time. We have to try to keep our spirits up.

3. Not sad at all! It is my wife's birthday (50!), we are at the beach

staying at a friend's house for a long weekend, we are with our dogs - about to take a long walk. Not sad at all (but may be when I return to work tomorrow!).
