Senator Byrd up on CSPAN2; just called the line item veto 'a piece of
garbage'. He's still on FYI.

2. In the hands of this particular pResident...
..it most certainly would be. But hell, he's been effectively using his "signing statements" as a line item veto for the past several years now. I guess he just wants to make it official.

4. Didn't the SCOTUS rule it unconstitutional in the 90s when it was passed
the first time? Unless they pass an amendment it is DOA.

10. for the purpose of educating me
please tell me that I'm misunderstanding this. I understand what you said to be that if we vote to pass the Min. Wage bill, then the line item vito will be passed too.

Oh please

carrier. It was hilarious!

14. He's got my undivided attention
I'm supposed to be painting the hall walls but am sitting on the couch with the roller in my hand totally enthralled. I fear we will not have him for very much longer though. He looked so frail when approaching the podium - though he's still got more brain cells firing than I. He's such a showman and a great 'wordsmith' - truly magnificent!!!

15. And I'm get really tired of Jon Stewart taking cheap potshots at Byrd
This man fought valiantly to stop the lunacy in Iraq when the majority in Congress were bending over to grab their ankles at Bush's command.
