Is A.G. Gonzales Bush's Ollie North?
I've watched highlights from the hearings today and one thing concerns me. It seems that Gonzales took one on the chin today... Because Bush has said, and Gonzales backs him up on this, that he was going on Gonzales's legal advice on the legality of Wiretapping, does that put Gonzales in the liability spotlight and provide Bush a "get out of jail free" card?

1. I don't think so - I think he shoves it back in blivet"s** corner
because all too often today, Gonzo said "We .. the President (said or did) this." He first would begin to claim it as belonging to all of the administration and then changed it quickly, in the same breath, to point just to blivet**. He endured hours of questions that he didn't answer, but it struck me just how many times he did that today.

2. he's a different type
Gonzales is a toady, not a zealot. David Addington or John Bolton or some other psycho neocon is more the North type.

3. Well, what else can you say about this paragon of toolige?
Complete tool. Similar to bringing an answering machine up for questioning. Except that this one couldn't quite work out all of the kinks from the uniform monolithic facade. But the entire point of this was to keep Bush in the clear, no doubt.

4. "Paragon of toolidge" LOL! But as Sydnie pointed out above, Gonzales
seemed eager at times to put the responsibility on *. I hope the hearings rattle him badly tomorrow.
