Please send email (at link)From CA State Senator Debra Bowen:
On Thursday, I'll be chairing a hearing in Menlo Park to discuss the quality and integrity of the testing process for electronic voting systems.
This is an important issue -- after all, how can we restore the public's trust in California elections if the tests used to evaluate our voting systems aren't up to snuff?
I'm so pleased that many experts in the field will be taking part in the hearing, including Professor Avi Rubin, Technical Director of the Information Security Institute at Johns Hopkins University, and head of "A Center for Correct, Usable, Reliable, Auditable, and Transparent Elections" (ACCURATE) funded by the National Science Foundation.
Incredibly, Secretary of State Bruce McPherson is siding with Diebold and the other electronic voting machine manufacturers by refusing to appear at Thursday's hearing or to even send a representative. It seems unbelievable, but it's true!
Forward an email to Secretary of State McPherson today -- urge him to participate in Thursday's hearing on voting systems testing!
http://ga3.org/campaign/hearingThe people of California deserve a fair, open, and transparent discussion about what the Secretary of State plans to do to test our voting systems.
Unfortunately, as we've seen before, the Secretary of State has not been particularly forthcoming about what's going on with California's voting machines.
That's why it's so important that Secretary of State McPherson or his top official familiar with the voting machine certification process should take part in Thursday's hearing.
Isn't that a discussion the Secretary of State should be participating in?
Urge the Secretary of State to come to Thursday's hearing on voting system testing -- send him an email now!
http://ga3.org/campaign/hearingThanks for your help on this. I'm hoping that if Secretary McPherson hears from hundreds of California voters, he'll change his mind and decide to join us.
Sincerely,
Debra Bowen
California State Senator
