Bye Bye America........
Well I must say I never thought I would see the day when America slides further into oblivion....The un-Patriot Act...Deficits....Homelessness abounds.....outsourcing everything under the sun....big money big winners....scandal after scandal and no representation in the administration owned press....I worry for you and me....everyday I am amazed that the US gets deeper and deeper into a hole of no return....it will be too late when people REALLY wake up....it will be too late for us all in the world....the changes that are coming will be welcomed with great applause by the sheeple and the followers....as (D)you are led away to the camps/prisons of the dissenters...

How can this be happening????? Where are the marches and the general strikes that wake up nations asleep at the wheel???? Where is the buses filled with people who go to every major city in America and start Megaphoning your messages to those zombies that need a jolt of reality...??? NO accountability in the offices of people you elect??? My mind hurts with that one!!

WTF WTF WTF WTF I say this everyday as many of you do....WHAT THE FU*K ANYWAYS!!

off the box now....sometimes letting go of all the frustration is how I can go on....Sorry to release this all on DU...but I am grateful there is still a place that allows me to speak freely and openly in these times....Thanks DU...

1. How are things in Canada?
In terms of the whole outsourcing/offshoring craze? Is it not hitting you guys up there?

As for down here, I have no idea why throngs are not in the streets. Makes no sense.

3. There is some outsourcing going on.....
Our Medical records here in BC are sent to a company in the (get this) USA...Maximus(i think is the name not 100% sure tho) I believe is doing our paperwork and taking our calls regarding BC Medical....and not only that but they finally had a month that they didn't get penalized for shotty work...they have been getting fined for not supplying the BC customers with up to standard work...I think it was 11 months in a row...don't have all the facts on that one but maybe others can offer up what they know....as for other business'...I am sure there is some, but not to the extent of whats been going on with the US....

2. I say everyday "What's is it going to take to wake this country up?"
It seems the American populace is in a coma or dead. I really don't understand the general malaise of our people.

Hey canadianbeaver sometimes it's good to get a good rant off of your chest.

It is overwhelming and it seems bleak but this country is a resiliant one. We are going to make it....I think it's going to be a tough road and probably many years before the country recovers from this period in time.

Speak up and Speak out....Or voices will be heard!!

Oh and what is it going to take to wake up the American populace, I think it's going to be a Kent State type event!!

Welcome to DU:pals:

8. thanks MadMaddie...I've been around since the Nov 04 selections...
and I have no patience when it comes to waiting for the tough road to even out to at least a level playing field...its so slanted right now that those who want to wait may be blown off by the time those ages roll around....I am very pessimistic right now...I think its just coming to a head for me and I am feeling out what my next step is as a human next to a country that doesn't play fair...

Will I quit my job and become a person who travels around with a message of peace and understanding for EVERYONE on this planet????....Sometimes I wish I was able to do that....maybe I just need to take that first scary step and just do it!!

6. Well, if you could just convince the Canadian Government to...
...invade already, and topple this Fascist Government! You can start here in Georgia, the Georgia coast would be a perfect spot for it.

1) Almost all of our troops are out of the state

2) We have a small, empty coast

3) We have Ports and rivers

4) Southern Georgia is sparsely populated, but those who are down there are Fat, Lazy, and Republican (a.k.a. Stupid Chicken Hawks).

5) Or you can just drive down here in cars, like you are going to Florida, all of Ontario does it every year, so nobody would even notice.

10. thank you for that smile......don't know how our government would
be able to do that considering Harper would need the help of one of the other parties to actually do that and he wouldn't as we all know..cause Harper is just Bush Lite and wants to be part of the problem not the solution....but I really do like your idea....makes me smile!!

7. The American people will "wake up" when it affects them personally.
When their kid comes home in a coffin or when they have to fork over the cash to pay for BushCorp's colonialism, they'll "wake up". 'Til then they'll be shopping a Walmart and watching the SuperDuperBowl.

11. Or when there is no choice but to implement a DRAFT
That's when they will wake up.

I took a bus to DC Feb. 4th for an organized protest and almost no one else showed up (a sorry-ass total of only 1200-1500 people?!)

Everybody's talking, but no one's really doing anything

13. Re-instituting the draft would probably do the trick.
I fought the draft in the '60s. Biggest mistake that we ever made. Now, we have a "professional" army that follows any orders given. Better a disgruntled citizen army that remembers they are citizens first.

18. Yes, or just make it a mandatory 2 years or so. If all of the Congress...
...had children and Grand-children serving, I doubt they would be so eager to get us into these STUPID Wars!

14. Yea...it very well maybe the upcoming Iran.war...
There is going to be a draft and it's going to be boys and girls, women and men up to 42 years of age. (They just moved the age limit up).

When the casualties start rolling in and start looking like Vietnam and WWII things will change. I am including WWII because of the number of killed and injured. These numbers won't be tolerated in the US.

I have posted some numbers from the two wars.

http://www.military.com/forums/0,15240,84591,00.html
Vietnam
Average age of men killed: 23.1 years
Five men killed in Vietnam were only 16 years old.
The oldest man killed was 62 years old.
58,148 were killed in Vietnam
75,000 were severely disabled
23,214 were 100% disabled
5,283 lost limbs
1,081 sustained multiple amputations
Of those killed, 61% were younger than 21
11,465 of those killed were younger than 20 years old
Of those killed, 17,539 were married

WWII http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0004619.html
United States
Men in War 16,112,566
Killed 291,557
Wounded 670,846

Things will change...when the kids come home in coffins...

16. Exactly. Right now it's a low level annoyance for most.
It's still easier for most Americans to change the channels when news of casualties, torture, war crimes, etc appear on the boob-tube.

19. I thought the average age was 19, at least that's what Paul Hardcastle...
...says in his 1980's Dance Club mix - 19 Nah, Nah, nah, nah, Nah, nah, nah, Nineteen!

<http://www.mp3.com/paul-hardcastle/artists/3782/summary.html>

BTW, you can hear a snip from 19 if you go to click the "songs" tab and go to the middle of page 2, the direct link didn't work.

And we know what that led to when we did it with Iraq.

15. Seems to me we need a general strike...
that seems to be the thing that works in other countries. Only I can never figure out how it would come about in the good ol' USA. We're so spread out, and it seems like too many folks are fucking zombies now. My mom always told me the the people get the government they deserve. Which would mean that we must be the stuipedest people on the planet. We let a bunch of pirates just walk in and take it all.
So let's call a general strike, eh?

17. It would be wonderful to see ...thats for sure....
Just imagine what that would look like to the rest of the world...it could start out in Seattle, Portland, L.A. on the West and All the major cities on the East...teachers, postal, retail, city workers, every position in any company..all citizens unite!!! For the country and yourselves.....

It really would be something to see!!

schooling, mail delivery, shopping, and public transit accomplish? How would they feel about this "uniting"?

22. Well I guess the my next question is...
Why wouldn't they join in with them side by side to demand accountability from the government and to make sure they, and their own, have a country that is strong in all aspects of its growth...? Sorry for the inconvenience that may be caused but sometimes drastic measures are needed to jolt a bit of reality into people....The world is watching as the USA slips away....the road the US is currently on now will deny you your rights and liberties...what good will come from that??? will you want to continue on with a life like that.??? if you do....may you find all you are looking for!!

Peace be to you....

Why do people not want to help others out??? There is enough food on this living planet for every soul to be fed....there is enough shelter on this planet for every soul to have a roof over their heads...there is enough clothing to keep every soul on this planet warm...

Money and Economics rule......and those with the most..hold the power....
