What is the average discount that Chavez is giving us?
Anyone know on average how much per gallon the poor are paying for the oil Chavez is discounting?

1. They sell the oil to Robert Kennedy's organization for 40% off.
Then the oil is sold at market prices, and the profits used to subsidize poor folks. I think the poor folks pay as little as nothing, on a sliding scale based on income.

Funny how our own government won't help its citizens, but Venezuela will.

5. I heard it was free
and that the 40% is the result of middleman markup...They have to subsidize themselves first you know.

encourage them to demand such luxuries as heat, food and medical care. Don't forget Castro got all this started by offering to send free medical care to the poor in the Gulf states after Katrina.

As the First Mother pointed out, the underclasses are better off than they have ever been. Spoiling them will only make them want more.

6. Thanks.
I was hoping I didn't need one; but you are probably right. I've added one.

7. 40% is the figure I've also heard used in the other states with Democratic
Congressmen who got that discount for them, too. They all contacted the 5 large American oil companies first, seeking discounted prices for the poor in their states, and were flatly rejected.

I've read articles indicating certain Native American tribes have also made arrangements for preferred prices.

The last state I've heard acquiring the discount is Delaware, last week.
