Hardball-I really hate it when KBH speaks for all Texans
she does NOT speak for me. In fact, she has NEVER asked my opinion, and when I have offered mine, I always get back a form letter telling me WHY she voted a certain way.

So she needs to STFU-she's NOT a spokesman for all of Texas.

All that comes out of her mouth are the approved bush admin messages. She's no more than a paid ventriloquist dummy.

If we do a good job with the GOTV effort...

20. She's in for a hard fight
But it's a fight that I feel she's up for and could win. Alot is changing in politics right now. People aren't responding they way they had in the past to negative campaigns and want to hear what a candidate can do for them. This will be a plus for Radnofsky if she chooses to utilize it correctly.

Our part is getting Texas Dem's off their butts and to the polls. Honestly, if we can do that I feel she has a fighting chance.

6. Did KBH mention she has constituents threatened with arrests
when they PEACEfully ASSEMBLE & PETITION her dallas office(nearly EVERY Friday!)?
How could she represent, when she won't MEET,her fellow Texans?!
I get those same stupid letters back, she is "ALWAYS" glad to hear my concerns ..so I keep calling, & writing.
Cornyn won't accept mail, or email. I don't know which of 'em is more useless.

16. when was the last time a dem pres candidate won texas?
i'm thinking it was johnson and that was only because he was from texas. has any dem presidential candidate carried texas since johnson? i think poppy bush even carried texas against clinton even with perot running and splitting up the repukes in 92.

you're right, though, in that the dems had the majority in the state gov't and possibly even in the US congress until recently. like the rest of the south, inertia just took hold after the parties switched platforms on civil rights 5o years ago, and many states in the south were slow to figure that out, not just texas. the last of them finally did figure out, however, that the dixiecrats had all become republicans. zell miller really emphasized that in 2004 when an interviewer asked him why he hasn't switched over to the republican party. he said something like "my views haven't changed even though the party has changed, i figure why change parties this late in my career" or something like that.

21. looks like carter beat ford in '76 by a 51% to 48% margin...
...in texas, so you don't have to go back as far as johnson.

additionally, humphrey beat nixon 41% to 40% with george wallace taking the other 19% in 1968 in texas. i wouldn't exactly call that a solid progressive majority, though.

johnson (a texan) beat goldwater solidly in texas in 64 but kennedy just skimmed by nixon in 1960, 50% to 49%.

so i don't think texas has been solidly democratic in my lifetime, at least not in presidential elections.

18. generally speaking, texas is not that much different than....
the rest of the south. the whole south is solid red with the exception of florida where the margin is tight. the one difference between texas and many other southern states is that texas has four really big urban centers (dallas, houston, austin, san antonio) and in dallas and houston there are large african american communities so there are more democratic pockets than places like oklahoma, etc.

that said, there's a lot of rural real estate between those urban areas. additionally, there are big suburban areas around the big cities, and these suburbs are teeming with repukes. even the areas surrounding progressive places like austin are filled with white trash....when i lived in austin i was scared just driving into williamson county with my democratic bumperstickers.

so, the question is more than "why is texas so hoodwinked?". it's really "why is the south and middle america so hoodwinked?".

10. You are the first person I've ever heard of that he's replied to
Not once has he replied to my emails, posted letters nor phone calls. Until you every other person that I've spoken to says the same thing.

You must have the touch. :)

Cornyn could care less. He must have mistakenly thought you were a rich republiCON. You aren't by chance a rich republiCON are you? A pioneer or ranger, perhaps? maybe you have the same name or something. Either way, I am most impressed!

13. I actually got a phone call the other day from his office
the only problem was that it had been so long since I had called to complain I couldn't remember what I originally called about-I realized AFTER the call I was griping about Bush sneaking in privatization of SS in the budget. I did take the opportunity to bend teh guy's ear about the Ports deal and that maybe Cornyn should quit being so buddy buddy with Bush.

11. I feel the same way when an administration enabler talks about what...
the American people think, feel or want. When Sen. Pat Roberts misinforms us (or at least the press) about how the American people aren't interested in Phase II, when Scotty misinforms us that the people don't want to hear questions about the Cheney shooting or when any of them hype the gay marriage issue, I physically have to blow out my breath, to avoid overpressure.

I'm from Philly, for example, but Santorum doesn't speak for me! Neither does Specter.

a box of rocks holds all kinds of promise
(I love purdy rocks, fossils,etc)..
