According to Zogby's latest poll that is the proportion of soldiers that favor staying in Iraq. In a very real sense they are the experts. If they wish to leave, it really has to have gotten bad. I knew when my Congressman called for an exit from Iraq (Walter Jones NC 3) the military was beginning to turn. It has more than begun to turn it has soured completely. The only real question now is what will be our face saving deal to leave? Will it be a power sharing agreement, elections, a parliment?

1. My concern...
is when there are a few hundred left. I do not not believe that we'll be given the name chance when the last troops left Viet Nam.

2. Oh this is disturbing.
Not that I don't think we should be out, but how do we get them out?

4. It's like they are stuck on an island in a sea of sharks.
Some will get out - some won't unless the masterminds at the Pentagon can come up with some piece of brilliance.

Just like they did in Vietnam.

11. Trust Bush. Their lives are in his hands. He's the commander.
Good morning. :hi:

5. Odd. The soldiers that call talk radio say 80% favor the war.
Hmmmm, now just what could possibly be going on there?
:sarcasm:

6. Perhaps they aren't really soldiers but astroturf spreaders?
Just a thought.

7. There is a big divide between the Marines
who are still in favor (but nothing like 80%) and the rest who are overwhelmingly opposed.

8. Looks like they have won all the hearts and minds they can stand.
Rush needs to do better at keeping the troops all cheered up!

9. The troops don't support the troops.
They hate America. They're traitors.

12. Our soldiers are in a living hell
I think about them every day, sometimes all day.

My 20-year-old son today just made the most heartfelt speech to me about what he wishes he could tell the politicians: people are DYING while you just sit back and wait.

I will guarantee you that ** does not want these soldiers coming home giving reports to America, either. My heart breaks for the way our military has been so despicably USED
