Interesting end to AP story ~ Google advertising:
Bush was accompanied by his wife, Laura, who visited Afghanistan in April 2005. Vice President Dick Cheney visited there in December 2005.

<blah blah blah>

"We're impressed by the progress that your country is making," Bush told Karzai. "I come as a friend and an ally."

The president and his wife stepped off Air Force One under a bright, sunny sky against a background of snowcapped mountains. Security was extremely tight.

Secret Service agents were deployed around the plane with automatic weapons

1. I wonder, is the advertising based on...
a cookie placed in your computer by Google. ould a freeper reading the same article see different advertisements entirely? My guess is "yes." I see ads for skiing all the time in WaPo articles that I suspect I would not see if I did not surf skiing and snowboarding sites.

3. no one knows for sure, but most agree certain keywords on a page...
...trigger certain ads. so yeah, for the most part, the freeper sees the same ads as the rest of us.

4. "Smack Bush in the face for a chance to win an iPod!"
I swear I saw a flash ad with that text just the other day on a song lyrics site. Not a 'left wing' one -- just a typical spamful lyrics site.

You were supposed to click on a little picture of Bush pedaling around on a tricycle. :D
