1. No shit, Sherlock
But I don't think it matters if people like him. These guys have power so sewn up that he could have a 7% approval rating and still stay in office.

what a fake.

MATTHEWS: I like him. Everybody sort of likes the president, except for the real whack-jobs, maybe on the left -- I mean -- like him personally.

You either like him or you don't Chris! You can't SORT of like the president.

So, if "everybody sort of likes" him, it means nobody does. Dumbass!

8. CM (roughly): 'the numbers in the poll that surprised me were
his likeability. people don't like the president matt'

blamed it on advisers, circumstances, nothing about bush actually failing at anything.

The subject matter covers war and other issues, but those problems existed yesterday, and suddenly, today they act like they're at a funeral. at the end 'the only thing he has going for him is that he has 3 more years' :scared:

16. It's not that simple.
Edited on Wed Mar-01-06 11:10 AM by LisaLynne
First, you have to ignore the facts and just not report it. Then, you have to deny that obvious truth for, say, several years, while acknowledging that there is controversy. "Cheese is NOT a milk product. Look at it. It is solid and milk is liquid. Anyone can see that!"

Then, the bloggers start digging into it and finding out the truth. You have to come out and say, "Some tin foil hatters are claiming that cheese is a milk product. Those whackos on the internet are posting video taken from a cheese processing plant showing a white liquid being turned into cheese. These nuts will believe anything!"

Eventually, however, when you see that most people do understand that cheese comes from milk, only then can you state the obvious and act as though you have been holding that position forever.

It's a process. :)

37. Our own Colleen Cashmere is on location
video: Stand-up. 1 shot in front of refrigerator case in health food store.

Colleen Cashmere: Brian...in my hand is a wedge of cheese - just as we all know it - yellowy orange and with that familiar flavor that millions of moms and dads across America depend on to satisfy and nourish themselves and their children. I'm sure - if you're like me - you may well have had just such cheese melted on top of nachos (chuckle) during your own Super Bowl Party recently.

Brian: (chuckle) mmm . Oh yeah....

CC: Well Brian, we came to this store - Northern Health Food Co-op - right here near our studios to see if we can shed some light onto the current controversy swirling around this beloved, wholesome food. As you may know, doubt as to the composition of cheese has been raised in some quarters culminating just this week in the claim, by some, that cheese is made from milk.

Brian(split screen): Yes, the volume has been going up on that discussion for a while now.

CC: Yes...we...(cut off)

Brian: Oh, I'm sorry Colleen...

BB: No...go ahead, Brian(chuckle)

Brian: I was just going to add that your team was sent out to find some cheese and see if reading the label....well, you tell us, Colleen.

CC: Um...Right. We came down to this store and with the kind permission of the staff here have been allowed to find some cheese and take a look for ourselves and our Action Data News viewers what we might find on the label of some actual cheese.

Brian: To see if the ingredients might be right there on the label as it were.

CC: That's right (moves back toward reefer case)...And....(walking and pointing)...as you can see, Brian, we were surprised to find something interesting right here on the freezer-case (points to sign saying: Soy Cheese)

Brian: Oh, my! (laughs)

CC: Right.....we didn't even _get_ to the looking-at-labels part and already we see the words "Soy Cheese". We could only assume that this meant that the cheese is made of some kind of soy ingredient.

Brian: (still chuckling and smiling) I assume - as the great reporter that you are -

CC: (smiles demurely)

Brian: - that you went ahead and read the label anyway?

CC: That's right. This wedge I have been holding was taken right from this same case (points)...you can see the little gap where I picked this one up (while pointing, knocks over a few wedges....)
OOPS! Making a mess here, now! (laughing)

Brian: (laughs)Be careful there, Colleen. Our staff buys a lot of sandwiches and coffee at that store! (chuckling)

CC: (giggling) Right, Brian. But...anyway...as I was saying...we DID go ahead and read the label and found that NOT ONLY are the ingredients listed right there - can we get a close-up of this? - But I think you can now see what we did, that......

Brian: Oh, my! (laughing) Yes....SOY!

CC: Soy. That's right. The first ingredient is soy. And if you read the entire label you don't find milk mentioned anywhere....
And finally (turns wedge over) as if that wasn't enough. On the front. A bright green sticker - I assume may have been put on by the management here - saying:

Both together: Dairy Free! (laughing)

CC: So there you go. Not scientific.......

Brian: No. But still revealing.

CC: Yes.

Brian: Wow. Thank you, Colleen Cashmere.

CC: You bet.

Brian: (emerging from split screen) Well...one can only GUESS where this controversy is going to go from here! (smiling. Shaking head)

Action Data News continues!

(Action Data News logo swirls up to pounding synth music. Cut to commercial)

DO like Bush-- really, really like him? No more than 3 weeks ago, I'm just sure of it.

You watch these people just a little and it's absolutely awesome how truly out of touch they really are. What they have, these Washington pundits and far too many legislators, is something a step above an echo chamber. It's an echo chamber on steroids: they don't jut parrat one another's thoughts, they CREATE some version of reality for themselves that has absolutely nothing to do with the rest of the country. It's amazing -- and more than a little frightening when you stop and think about it.

Worse, there's no way to reach them and shake some sense into their heads. They're not just in an echo-chamber-on-steroid, it's all in a bubble, encased in a vacuum (so no sound gets through), and they're all wearing some sort of eye wear that prevents them from seeing anything remotely approaching reality.

i talk to my neighbors and people at my kids school and various friends and i never hear any of them talk about Hollywood or the "far left" and how hollywood is full of liberals out to get Bush and "traditional values" it's all bogus imo. What we talk about is local politics and the war--nothing about the phony non-existent "culture war"

19. E-mail him at hardblogger@msnbc.com & hardball@msnbc.com
Dear Tweety,

Your 6-years' mancrush on Shrub has always been misguided, particularly when you project it upon the American people as a whole. He barely scraped by with one stolen election and arguably two. Yet you find in this some resounding sign of popularity. You have tried comparing him to CHURCHILL and God knows who else, where there are NO positive comparisons to be had. You have pined to "have a beer" with a known chemical abuser. You have gloried like a little girl over his calling your tie "preppy". You have mooned over various bulges in his costumes. You have said his Democratic opponents lost because common people didn't think THEY would stop to help them change a flat tire, when if it is ANYBODY who would shoot the bird out the limo window at the flat tire it would be Shrub.

Notice that all of the things you have found to praise him with are of the personal attraction variety---nothing of the substantive. This is a person who dismissed previous studies on threats to national security, who did NOTHING to prevent them for the first eight months, who ran for three days when it happened, who did nothing but act like a cheerleader standing on bodies, who then proceeded to launch a FAKE war of CHOICE, most probably for family cartel reasons, who has since giggled pathologically while the death toll for his decisions is in the hundred of thousands.

There is nothing CUTE about him, and your insignificant persona will be dumped on his on the ash heap of history as one of hundreds of media enablers for his criminality.

Bush may be a nice guy (though I kind of doubt it.) That's beside the point. He is an incompetent leader. That's what's important.

I'm a nice person. People like me, but I don't think I'd make a particularly good president. Still, I do think I could do better than Bunnypants.

44. I saw this ridiculous puff piece on "Today" this morning
Watching it was more self-flagellation that I could possibly tolerate. Why do I punish myself by continually watching crap like this?

These two have no credibility whatsoever, except as shills for the RNC and The White House. Outside of Fox News' roster of "journalists" (noun used loosely here), they are two of this Administration's most partisan cheerleaders. They must be on the RNC's payroll. (Matt Laurer plays golf with The Village Idiot, and Chris Matthews is just one more publicity-starved sycophant in a medium reliant on the right-wing to stay in front of a camera and blather more unrealistic fables.)

Anybody who lives in the real world knows that Bush is a lying, conniving, murdering SOB and I, for one, am getting damned sick and tired of having the press corps trying to paint him as some lovable, befuddled Everyman who fell into the Presidency. They've painted a picture of him as some sort of political Smurf - a charming, happy-go-lucky figure at the mercy of a clueless staff (and an underhanded, amoral Svengali) who have consistently "forgotten" to brief him on Iraq, Katrina, Cheney's hunting accident, etc. Not once has anyone in the press called his bluff and asked, "But Mr. Bush, you're the President. How can you continually blame your staff when, as The Leader of the Free World, you can get all the information you need just by picking up your telephone receiver and making a few calls, or calling a meeting of Agency heads?"

The majority of people in this country are FINALLY waking up and finding out that we have a rank incompetent beholden only to his corporate buddies sitting in The Oval Office. The press has done nothing but make excuses for him, and it's gotten old.

Enough already, damn it.
