House GOP could see 10-15 more retirements (Great News for Dems)
House Republicans have limited most of their retirements to conservatives in solidly red districts and a handful of state-wide office seekers, but political analysts say 10-15 more Republicans could announce they are stepping down in the coming months.

With the president's approval ratings between 34 and 40 percent, the unrest in Iraq and GOP scandals still problems for Republicans in polls, the number of possible Democratic pickups looks to be growing.

For now, there are 25 open seats. Sixteen of those are held by Republicans, eight by Democrats and one is vacant and previously held by a Republican...

http://www.thehill.com/thehill/export/TheHill/News/Campaign/030106.html

In 1994 a big Republican year there were more than 30 open Democratic seats.

Among possible Republicans who may step down include, Sherwood Boehlert of New York and Rep. Bill Thomas of California.

The article says that the Chairman of the NRCC, Tom Reynolds is "begging" people not to retire!

1. Yeah, let's just hope they don't get replaced with Liebermans.
We need some real Dems in office, not idiots who want it both ways.

2. I agree
but since Lieberman's overall voting record is over 80% liberal it would still be an improvement. I don't know what to tell you. It's possible that if a Republican retires in Tennessee or Missouri and if we do elect a Democrat he could be a more moderate democrat but still one who will vote for Pelosi as Majority Leader so we can begin investigating the Bush Administration.
