Nice job reporting on the site I created entirely by me (all graphics, writing, headers,etc), working with Buzzflash.com, all of my writing being quoted and compared to the Libby Funding site but NO MENTION OF Takebackthemedia.com in YOUR story, even tho in Buzzflash.com their MAIN HEADLINE mentions a GROUP CREATION of the Libby Defense Fund by Buzzflash AND Takebackthemedia.com..

GREAT Reporting.

Cartoonist Helps Launch 'Scooter' Libby Parody Site

NEW YORK Takebackthemedia.com and Buzzflash.com have launched a Web site that parodies efforts to raise money for the legal defense of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby, the Cheney aide indicted for his alleged role in "Plamegate."

Micheal Stinson, a cartoonist and flash animator who co-founded Takebackthemedia.com, said "The Libby Defense Fund" parody site "asks that people donate to worthwhile organizations instead of Libby." Stinson told E&P that those organizations include Greenpeace, Doctors Without Borders, and Gold Star Families for Peace, among others.

"Plamegate," of course, involved the leaking of the name of CIA operative Valerie Plame -- wife of Iraq War critic Joseph Wilson. She was "outed" in a 2003 column by Robert Novak of the Chicago Sun-Times and Creators Syndicate.

But given that you know very little about the site's operations, it amazes me that you can make a claim that this was retaliation. When there is no byline on a story, that means that the front page editor put it together from tips that he has gotten or from something he came across. Our front page editor has several jobs and does not know you at all or if you have called us out on something, know anything about it. So it amazes me that you would make these statements instead of simply emailing the editor privately. Amazing really because if you really wanted to resolve it, you simply needed to notify the editor. I have forwarded your issue on to the editor now and it will be corrected. A correction for all errors that we make, including where we have left out the name of someone who was quoted on the record or when we attributed a quote to the wrong person. It happens in a fast paced environment, that is why we issue corrections. The apology should come from Symbolism for making his accusations, which were intentional and derogatory, instead of doing the right thing, which would have been to contact the editor and notify them of an error. IN fact, if you want an example of how such things are done, I wrote and article about Weldon and uranium and Gorba and I forgot to include an entire statement from the CIA station chief in Paris, who wanted to explain things a certain way. I was under pressure and on deadline. The man emailed my editor, who called me and I immediately issued a correction. That is how such errors are handled. If you read below, the rest of his posts are incredibly hateful and smearing. He owes us an apology, not the other way around.

Are you asking your name to be mentioned? They did link directly to http://libbydefensefund.com/index.htm and they quoted what was on the main page. Raw story didn't take credit for anything...they did spread the word about a cool site. I wouldn't have found it otherwise since I haven't had much time to spend on the computer lately.

Even Boxer, Kennedy and Kerry voted for the Patriot Act with no amendments and Russ courageously read The Bill of Rights which is on his website and there are many pertinent sections on Impeachment, ports and the authority of Congress to enforce laws.

He's a bit upset that Raw Story would co-opt it to drive traffic and revenue to their own site (pageviews) and not give him any credit. Especially when he put several links to Raw Story in the site he created.

It's also interesting to note that Raw Story linked Libby's actual fundraising site in the first paragraph and buried the actual link to the parody site at the very end of the article.

This was not a story to promote the parody site, this was clearly just a toss-off for Raw Story to drive page views and make money.

Thanks so much for letting people know where I'm coming from and that I work hard to create such a huge body of work, I've mortgaged my home and spent many sleepless nights, doing without to get the TRUTH out there.

I've actually worked in two mental institutions, one for Veterans after my Military stint during Nam, and to me the most Precious thing we have is TRUTH, and if Reality is distorted to make some false Truth that is passed along to the public, who start to BELIEVE IT, then you literally can end up with people that aren't really even human any more - killing, torturing is no big deal..

But then to have someone just stroll in and steal my writing to promote their site, only linking the most important thing on the page to PROGRESSIVES at the BOTTOM of the page, and actually promoting the REAL LIBBY LINK at the top, makes me sick..

And it's personal, and I have no doubt of that, and to be honest I consider it cowardly as well.

Fess up RS, admit to some mistakes, apologise, and you'll find that you have more credibility - other wise you might as well be Bush, and nobody likes him.. failings are what hold us together as a race, we forgive and do better, and get more chances..

But Revenge is even sweeter :) (kidding)

There are a lot more people that know me than I've realised and it's so great, it's true reward to walk into a march or show and have people run to HUG you, - then you realise that you have a responsibility to REAL people to get them the WHOLE TRUTH, and I take that seriously, and expect to be treated that way.

The error was an error and no one was taking anything from you, in fact, it appears giving you attention. But if you feel we are making money, I am more than happy to have it removed. 104. I created this Libby site for nothing

I've created flash works or cleaned them up for Merh and others for Katrina Relief for FREE, I do LOTS of work, you have no idea, and I have no attack dogs just people who know that I'm a nice mellow guy that will give them the shirt off my back, and who know I've worked 24/7 mortgaging my home and missing MEALS to do this work.

Why would you say such a thing? Frankly it's bizarre. I'm a straight shooter, and you are a moving target so we'll never get along.

And I don't appreciate half assed jobs, this was one of them, but it involved me.. I could have said a lot worse, but I don't care what you do with your site, get that corporate money, bring in those hits at all costs..

That's not my thing, even tho we were in the top 10,000 sites for a while before I ran off to make films.. it's not all that hard, and I did it honestly, not by dribbling out nuggets of what might be, or pretending to be an insider when I'm not..

For me to apologise when YOUR site screwed the pooch, then have you scream that I'm playing the victim looks to me like it's straight out of a Rove manual. It's dishonest, and for all you want to say about me, at least I'm honest.

So go have your little fun, but I hope that this has been a lesson - don't USE other people's work for profit (and yes there are ADS on that page) without giving them attribution. That seems to be an ongoing problem at RS and I hope it doesn't get you in deep trouble some day by someone that is actually MEAN.
