I've got to tell you folks something, and for most of you it isn't going to be a surprise: getting involved with your local political chapter isn't always going to be "convenient" but it is something YOU can personally do to make a difference. A few hours a month, or even a few dollars can really make a difference, but the Most Important Thing is YOU.
YOU being there. YOU showing that YOU CARE. YOU talking to other concerned individuals about the things that really matter TO YOU.
You undoubtedly already have a life that keeps you pretty busy, and your life reflects those priorities. Your family's health and well being depend upon you, as you earn your income, maintain your home, and provide a love and support to those you care about.
But there is something that I believe each member of DU demonstrates when they begin their daily browse of the DU Forums:
They CARE about their country, and their fellow countrymen. Just by displaying an interest in the world around us, and demanding to know what is going on, we are already taking the first steps to creating a better world.
Now its time to take Step Two (if you haven't already done it). Go to Yahoo or Google or whatever your favorite search engine is, and find out where / when your local political chapter is meeting. There are tons of other good people out there who all want to DO SOMETHING, and they need your help.
They need your ideas, your energy, and your faith. They are also going to ask for your cash, but that's always optional. :)
If you want Bush impeached, you need to go to your local meetings, AND SAY SO TO THE CANDIDATES WHO ARE BEGINNING TO PREPARE FOR THEIR PRIMARY MATCHES. This is when YOU get to interview them. This is when YOU get to decide if someone is going to be good at the job you are hiring them for --
This when YOU show that "We the People" are the Government.
And it all starts with YOU.
I'll admit flat out that I'm fairly new to being politically involved, and I know there is a lot I have to learn before I can be as effective as I want to be, and George W. Bush is the man I have to thank for my current interest in politics. Prior to 2000, I always thought it was "someone else's job" to pay attention to that stuff. Now I've learned that it is mine and yours.
WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE. Please start by giving a few hours of your time this month to your local political chapter so you can learn how to help.
Thank you.
P.S. I'm not going to have much time to kick this message today, so if you find it useful, please kick. Sorry for being on the preachy side, but Kerry and the Fighting Dems really started me out on a feisty note this morning -- talk about inspiring!!!
