Career Navy officer getting assigned to Iraqi prison
A man who works in my office got a call from his son today telling him that he was going to be deployed to work in an Iraqi prison, because they need more officers.

It didn't sound like things would go well for him career-wise if he said no.

My coworker didn't seem too happy.

2. this about says it although working at a prison may be safer
His son was already having marital problems because of being away from home for so long. Can you imagine signing up for a career in the Navy and ending up in an Iraqi prison...

3. My Navy nephew has been in Baghdad since September.
He's an aeronautical engineer, managing network operations, whatever that is. He has soldiers reporting to him, but he reports to an Air Force officer. He keeps sending notes, saying how safe he is in the Green Zone, but his parents and the rest of the family are worried sick.

(Wow - my 100th post! And it only took a year and a smidge. I guess I'm a bit shy.)

6. I really have no idea about my co-worker or his son
but now they get to see who he really works for. I can't imagine sending someone who has never seen combat into this mess in Iraq. I started to say something about abu ghraib and he said, oh I'm sure that was just a few loose cannons.

They told him he would be going to a NEW prison.

By the way, what are we doing building new Iraqi prisons? When we don't even have the infrastructure rebuilt, but we are paying Haliburton to build new Iraqi prisons?

your own question with "few loose cannons."
