Bush - India Tour and critics -- something is missing

It's been said when a president is out of the country that it's not appropriate to criticize him.

On previous trips out of the country, Republicans have sputtered and expressed outrage over Dems (and others) voicing opposition to whatever bush* was doing at the time.

UAE port deal, Katrina tapes - bush*'s stance on these issues are being widely discussed and criticized.

Something is missing -- Republican outrage over criticizing the president when he's out of the country... No sputtering from GOPers, no speeches on the floor of the Senate or the House expressing dismay, and no photo-op statements slamming the critics for being critical...

You're not suppose to criticize a president when YOU'RE out of the country. Like Jane Fonda did. It gives off the impression that you're consorting with the enemy.

You're also not suppose to criticize a president during wartime, but I think that one has been stretched a bit and has lost its elasticity.

As for a rule for a president who is out of the country, the rule is that they usually do it to escape bad press. If they're out of the country, they also escape the usual White House press corps.
