Rick Springfield, American Citizen, REPUG.
Oh, GOD ... what a has-been DORK! Where's my "American Dog" album, so I can burn it on my front lawn?

From Freeperville ... (no link to source)

Rocker/Actor Rick Springfield appeared in front of 1,500 screaming fans last night in downtown Orlando announcing that he became a U.S. citizen last week. He was born in Australia and had started his career there until turning 18 and then taking off to try out a career in the music business and Hollywood.

Springfield announced in front of the House of Blues crowd in Orlando on Thursday night that after 30 + years of paying so many taxes he decided it was more than time to become an American...but that was not the only announcement Springfield made.

He also came out of the political closet saying " I am not sure how this is going to go over here but I am a Republican..which in my house only means that I cancel out my wife's vote because she votes for "the other side"...so it's a wash.

Springfield took time to mock the French a bit during a portion of his 1983 hit "Don't Talk To Strangers", where a middle portion of the song is sung in French. As the verse came approached Springfield shook his head and said "ahhh geeze...the f**king french" with a lack of approval for the country.

Rick played the Star Spangled Banner and die-hard fans who had heard the news of his recent citizenship brought U.S. flags and waved in the first 3 rows.

It was a cool moment to witness for Springfield...he was the first concert I saw in the early 80s when I was eight years old. He gives time to supporting and recognizing the Aussie troops and U.S. troops fighting abroad.

Springfield adds "911 changed all the rules...how can you not love this country? I mean according to the exam to become a citizen it lets you know you can vote and hold a Federal Job! Can you imagine me as your mailman?"

4. How much does it cost to hire 1500 people to go to a concert?
We're talking Rick Springfield, right? The Singing Doctor? The guy who had what, two hits on one album?

They don't even play Rick Springfield songs on the Muzak at work, and that's like the final resting place for washed-up musicians...

and only wished he could have her. She probably had a head on her shoulders.

back in the General Hospital days. Of course, I was 11. :eyes:

Living in Oz was his last decent album, and it didn't even come close to the earlier ones. He should have quit years ago.

It's a very cheering shift; a year ago somebody proclaiming himself a Republican would have been thumping his chest about it.

20. So what, he's still Dr. Noah Drake to me
He's back on GH, too, these days.
I prefer the other 80s guy (Robert Scorpio) they recently brought back to the show, but I always liked Rick Springfield, too.

Anyone remember RS's Saturday morning cartoon from the early 70s? It was called "Mission: Magic". It was similar in artistic style to the Brady Bunch cartoon.

Not only is he unenlightened, but he's one of the DWINDLING unenlightened! I'll be better than the Freepers and won't trash the CD, but can't guarantee I'll buy more from him.
